Reddit user Myoyoto recently shared a clip of their strategy to quickly reach impressive heights by shield sliding in midair onZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’sZonai Wings. The clip begins with the player dropping a spring before running into a shield slide. After shield sliding, the player jumps a few times to get a feel for Link’s mobility before starting the climb. Myoyoto jumps into the air, quickly drops a Zonai Wing, and repeats the same trick. After jumping from each wing, theZelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer drops a new one, allowing for continuing height as long as they still have the item.
While most players will find Zonai Wings onZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Great Sky Island, Myoyoto has also utilized a duplication glitch. The Hylian Shield has been fused with a spring to give it an improved jump, but another glitch has also been exploited to accomplish this. Instead of the two items combining with Fuse, the spring is dropped which may be a technique that’s required before performing Myoyoto’s height trick. Combining the two actions may be done out of convenience, but doing the first may also confuse the programming and allow for the Zonai Wing hopping. According to Myoyoto, this strategy has been patched out by Nintendo, but can be done on any version ofZelda: Tears of the Kingdomprior to update 1.1.2.
Although many players haveupdatedZelda: Tears of the Kingdombeyond version 1.1.2, some may still be able to utilize Myoyoto’s technique. While a lot of these exploits have been adjusted in patches like 1.1.2, there may be other ways to replicate this infinite height trick on the currentTears of the Kingdomclient.
