Each new phase forWorld of Warcraft Classic:Season of Discoverybringsnew Runes for every class, including a variety of new Shaman Runes forSoD Phase 4. In addition to new P4 Shaman Runes for the Cloak slot, there are a variety of Shaman Ring Runes to choose from which grant a variety of skill bonuses, intended to level the playing field at max level.
Though there are lots of new Shaman Runes that complement those introduced inPhase 1 and Phase 2, andin Phase 3, some of these older Runes may have been removed and replaced, or changed entirely. This guide details what the new Shaman Cloak Runes and Shaman Ring Runes do in SoD P4, and explains what (if any) Runes were removed and replaced with new options.
Updated July 11, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: There are three new SoD P4 Shaman Cloak Runes, and several new Phase 4 Shaman Ring Runes, that players can collect in the latest phase for Season of Discovery. After a particularly productive weekend after the release of SoD Phase 4, Shaman Runes locations have all been discovered. This guide has been updated to include detailed instructions to find all new Shaman Runes Phase 4 introduced, including specific coordinates to help you hone in on the exact location of every new Shaman Rune SoD P4 players can get.
Coherence Effects
How To Get Coherence Rune: The SoD Coherence Rune location is in the Burning Steppes. Go to the Lava Pools in the north of the zone and look for Greater Obsidian Elementals. Defeat these to get a Molten Obsidian Core. Then, travel to any Lake, Pond, or other source of standing water in Azeroth, and stand in the water. The Molten Obsidian Core will melt and become interactive. Interact with it to obtain the Rune of Composure.
Feral Spirit Effects
How To Get Feral Spirit Rune: The SoD Feral Spirit Rune location is in Winterspring. Go to Ice Thistle Hills, in the southeast of the zone, and look for a cave around (66, 42). Go into the cave, and defeat the elite Yeti enemies, until you reach a Chained Elemental NPC. Talk to it to free it, then defeat the Chained Elemental to get the Rune of the Bound Spirit.
Storm, Earth, and Fire Effects
How To Get Storm, Earth, and Fire Rune: The SoD Storm, Earth, and Fire Rune location is in Felwood. Go to the far north of the zone and defeat any Deadwood Furbolg enemy until you get a Voltaic Icon. Equip the Voltaic Icon, then look for any group of three enemies that you think you can take on. Get all three enemies to critically low health, and defeat all three at the exact same time with your Chain Lightning ability to transform the Voltaic Icon. Interact with it to get the Storm, Earth, and Fire rune.
New Shaman Ring Runes In P4
All Shaman Ring Runes follow the same unlock method – find specific books somewhere in the world, and you will unlock Ring Runes that boost your Skill for particular class weapons and spell specializations. At Max Level, against elite higher-than-60 mobs, having a +5 to your weapon or spell skills makes it significantly less likely that you will miss attacks and casts.
Thesenew Runes give every classthe ability to boost two of their Weapon Skills, Spell Specializations, or Defense Skills by a small, but not insignificant, amount. When it comes to new Shaman Ring Runes,WoW SoDplayers have nine choices.
How To Get Fire Specialization Rune: To find the Fire Specialization Rune location, head to the Searing Gorge to the Slag Pit and look for Overseer Maltorius’s room, above the Archeologist area of the Slag Pit, where the Red Book is found on a table. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40.5, 35.5).
How To Get Frost Specialization Rune: To find the Frost Specialization Rune location, go to Winterspring and head south until you find the Owlbeast camp (the one east of the path, opposite the three caves in a gorge on the world map). This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (59, 59).
How To Get Nature Specialization Rune: To find the Nature Specialization Rune location, go to Felwood to Felpaw Village and look for this SoD Ring Rune in the cave that connects to Winterspring. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (62.5, 7.5).
How To Get Axe Specialization Rune: To find the Axe Specialization Rune location, go to the southwest of the Blackrock Stronghold in the southwest Burning Steppes. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40, 34).
How To Get Dagger Specialization Rune: To find the Dagger Specialization Rune location, head to the far southwest of Silithus to the Burning Blade camp and look for this Red Book in one of the first tents. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (20.5, 19.5).
How To Get Defense Specialization Rune: To find the Defense Specialization Rune location, head to Lower Blackrock Spire, specifically to its meeting stone near the instance portal. The Red Book should be inside a side room near the Meeting Stone. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (29.5, 38).
How To Get Fist Weapon Rune: To find the Fist Weapon Specialization Rune location, head to Silithus almost directly between Hive’zora and Cenarion Hold (on the world map, there is a building icon near the spot). This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (37, 44.5).
How To Get Mace Specialization Rune: To find the Mace Specialization Rune location, you will need to get on top of Grim Batol in the southeast of the Wetlands. This Phase 4 Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (74, 69).
How To Get Pole Weapon Rune: To find the Pole Weapon Specialization Rune location, head to the Temple or Arkkoran in Azshara and look for this Rune Specialization book on top of an altar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (78, 38).
