A new voice line discovered in theWorld of WarcraftPublic Test Realm ostensibly confirms the return of a certain NPC from theLegionexpansion in Patch 10.1. Though this character had a relatively small role back then, it seems he might have a major one when he returns toWorld of WarcraftinDragonflight.Warning: Spoilers for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight below.Once players raise their Renown level with the Valdrakken Accord inDragonflight, they gain access to a couple of dragon-themed story chapters pivotal to the future ofWorld of Warcraft. According to the new voice line datamined from theEmbers of NeltharionPTR, players will capture the final memories of Tyr using the Silver Scale left behind by the Keeper. However, the voice line also suggests players will do so with the help of Captain Travard–an NPC who first appeared inLegion.
Travard was a member of Tyr’s Guard, a secret order of Paladins sworn to protect the tomb of the fallen Titan Keeper. He appeared during the Warrior, Priest, and PaladinOrder Hall campaigns inWorld of Warcraft, where he aided in the collection of certain artifact weapons. Afterward, he formally joined the Silver Hand as a full Paladin.
It makes too much sense for Travard to appear in thisDragonflightquest. He is a descendant of the vrykul who originally traveled with Tyr to the Eastern Kingdoms. Given they are trying to rebuild theTitan Keeper inWorld of Warcraft, there are few more qualified than the man who guarded his final resting place for his entire life. It is likely players might revisit the Tomb of Tyr during this questline to copy the memories of his last moments to install them into the new version of the Titan Keeper.
Players are intrigued by the return of Travard of the Tyr’s Guard. The secret Paladin order appeared only briefly duringLegion, leaving many questions about the mysterious characters. Though nearly seven years later, many fans are eager to learn more about Travard and what he has been up to since the defeat of the Burning Legion. Luckily, players won’t have to wait long to find out–withEmbers of Neltharionreleasing on May 2, fans will be able to see the full context of Travard’s role inDragonflightvery soon.
