Summary
Back in 2017,Minecraft’s team created what would soon become tradition in the form of a yearly Mob Vote. Every year since,Mojanghas given fans mobs (and once, even a biome) to choose to be added into the game. Fans would fight to the end of the line for their newMinecraftbuddy, and at the end of the day only one group of people could be victorious. However, it was still something to look forward to.
This year’swinningMinecraftmob is the Armadillo. Though the other two mobs put up a fight, ultimately, the promise of a mob that would help protect players' dogs won over the most hearts. After all, a mob that helps out another well-loved mob is a good selling point. It is time for Armadillos to finally make their mark in-game and lend a helping hand to players.

How Minecraft’s Armadillo Will Change the Game
This year’s mob vote had a rocky start. Players tired of having to lose out on two other mobsbegan aMinecraftmob vote boycottthat gained a lot of traction. Even though some players only cared about one mob, many were tired of seeing two mobs be lost to history every year. Ultimately, the movement did not affect the mob vote, leaving the Armadillo as the lone survivor of this year’s batch of mobs. While this upset some, it excited just as many, as its adorable design struck hearts.
The Armadillo does offer players something of value: wolf armor.Minecraft’s players have enjoyed their tamed wolves since they got added to the game, but there’s never been a solid way to protect them. But with the introduction of theArmadillo’s scute, all that changes. In the video introducing the Armadillo, it would appear that they drop it when startled from behind. The addition of wolf armor could save players who forget to sit their dogs down at home and get surprised to see them following around in the wilderness.
Compared to the other two mobs this year, the Crab and Penguin, it isn’t much of a surprise that it won. Though theMinecraftCrab’s abilitywas useful, when put up against something that could benefit dogs, it arguably fell just a little too short. And though the Penguin could have been a cute addition, its utility was far too niche. The Armadillo just made sense as this year’s new mob. Not just for its use as dog armor, but as a cute, rolling mob that protects itself.
During the Armadillo’s introduction, fans could see the small mob rolling around and sniffing in the savanna. Though nothing has been said about that feature, it does leave an open door for what the Armadillo could do. The only other mob to visibly sniff isMinecraft’s latest mob the Sniffer, although their entire purpose is to sniff. One wonders what else the new friend might be able to do in this upcoming version.
As it stands,Mojanghas not revealed if the mob is tameable or how to breed Armadillos. Though players are known to push the game to its limits and seehow manyMinecraftmobs they can gather in one area, it isn’t known yet if players can densely pack Armadillos into one area. For now, fans will get to speculate as they wait forMojangto release the new, upcoming update with Armadillos.
