Summary

AStarfieldplayer has clipped a weird bug that makes Sam Coe spin around in bed as he sleeps. Like the Bethesda games that came before it,Starfieldhas numerous bugs that range from hilarious to frustrating, and this Sam Coe one certainly fits into the former category.

Despite offering some of the most detailed open worlds in gaming, Bethesda titles are known to have some persistent bugs. Among the infamous Bethesda bugs are flying horses inSkyrim, thekiller car bug inFallout 4, and NPCs that loot players inFallout 76.Starfieldis no different, as players have reported asteroids that follow their spacecraft, a disappearing city, and a puddle with a full inventory. Gamers will meet Sam Coe early inStarfieldonce they arrive at Akila City in the Cheyenne Star System. One player has discovered a bug revolving around Sam Coe that makes the NPC sleep in the most uncomfortable way imaginable.

Reddit user WishDisastrous1645 recently shared aStarfieldclip showing Sam Coe break-dancing in his bed. The video begins with the player standing over Sam Coe who sits up, flops to the side, then starts spinning in circles as if the player is moving him around. While the camera is stationary for most of this interaction, Sam Coe floats upward when the gamer looks up which may suggest that it’s loosely tied to the player’s perspective.TheStarfieldNPCcontinues to move erratically as the clip concludes, and it’s unclear how long Sam Coe continued to move around his bed like this.

What’s Causing This Starfield Bug?

As WishDisastrous1645 has confirmed that they’re using mods, this bug may be associated with downloaded code separate from the main game. There arecountlessStarfieldmodsthat may enhance a gamer’s experience in the game, but they are also known to cause issues. Problems also pop up with mods when Bethesda updates the game, potentially resulting in bugs where there were none before. Given that this bug seems to be affected byStarfield’s ragdoll physics, the game may have gotten confused about whether the NPC was dead or not. As the clip finishes without Sam Coe returning to normal, the glitch may have broken the NPCs normal routine.

With similar bugs being spotted inother Bethesda games, this may be a persistent issue in the Creation Engine. Players and NPCs normally ragdoll when they’re killed, but it’s abnormal for them to act this way when they’re alive, making for a fun clip.
