Summary

SomeDiablo 4players are showing up at the game’s World Boss Events and finding no one there, forcing them to fight the giant beats alone. Now, some are wondering if these unluckyDiablo 4players are running into a bug or if not enough people are playing the game anymore.

One of the new features that Blizzard hyped up beforeDiablo 4launched was World Boss Events. These multiplayer encounters were designed to pit the player against a gigantic, challenging demon with help from random people around the world. The typical world boss takes about 8 to 12 players to take down, depending on how powerful each person is, but it’s also possible for some players to take one of these monsters down solo. In the first month or so ofDiablo 4’s launch, each World Boss Event had plenty of players show up to take the big demon down. Today, it looks like that’s not the case anymore.

Reddit user Equivalent_Try_0492 posted a video where they were forced to fighta world boss inDiablo 4alone. In the clip, they ride up to the area of the event with no one else waiting to get into the action. Luckily, Equivalent_Try_0492 has an incredibly powerful build, so when the world boss shows up, it gets destroyed in about 30 seconds. According to Equivalent_Try_0492, this was the first time that something like this happened, and they pointed out that there were plenty of people in the PVP and Helltide events.

Equivalent_Try_0492 wasn’t the only person to report having todeal with this issue inDiablo 4, as others in the comments echoed the same type of stories. Some commenters mentioned that they would show up early, find no one there, then get completely annihilated because their character wasn’t strong enough to face a world boss alone. One commenter even mentioned that they played several Legion events recently, which were also empty. The general consensus from those forced to do these events alone is that not enough people are playing the game anymore.

Some fans may wonder if these occurrences are due to a bug in the game making it only appear that the player is by themselves, but when looking at the numbers, it would appear that theDiablo 4player base has plummetedrecently. According to a third-party analytics service known as SullyGnome.com,Diablo 4went from almost a million daily viewers on Twitch down to about 13,000 in August. This could be due to how unpopular the first season ofDiablo 4has been for the general public or games likeStarfieldandBaldur’s Gate 3taking the spotlight. Either way, if Blizzard doesn’t find a way to get fans back toDiablo 4soon, then World Boss Events will be pointless for most players to show up to.

Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
