Tower of God manhwa characters

Here’s what to expect from the currently-airing second season of theTower of Godanime, according to the original manhwa created by SIU.

Let’s Recontextualize

What Has Happened Thus Far?

The first season ofTower of Godintroducedthe series protagonist, Twenty-Fifth-Bamand a number of concepts that are central to the narrative. These include the tower itself, how most people enter the tower through being selected by Headon, the oldest administrator of the tower, as well as King Jahad and his princesses. As someone who entered the tower through his own power, Bam is what people call an “Irregular”, while those who were chosen to climb the tower are called “Regulars”. In the Japanese version of the anime, the word used is “Senbetsu-sha”, which can be translated to “one who is selected”, while Irregular is “hi-Senbetsu-sha”, assigning a negating prefix to the aforementioned, as in, “one who was not selected”. After an unknown amount of time stuck alone underground, Bam is found by a girl named Rachel, who becomes his entire world; however, when she decides to climb the tower because she wants to see the stars, she leaves Bam behind.

He follows her and enters the tower; however, what we later realize is that Bam’s desire to pursue Rachel led to his entering the tower through his own volition, and is how she gained entry in the first place despite being unfit to do so. After following Rachel, Bam meets a whole host of characters, like Yuri Jahad, who lends hima powerful weapon called the Black March; and various other Regulars from many walks of life, like Khun Aguero Agnes, the Crocodilian Rak, Shibisu, another Jahad Princess Endorsi and the so-called impostor Anaak Jahad and several others who became Bam’s close friends and unknowing hostages of FUG.

Rachel’s Key Moment

A Heavy Betrayal Leading Into Season 2

As we already know, Bam and Rachel were reunited during the various tests that took place on the lower levels of the Tower, but after an accident, she betrayed him and even tried to kill him. Having survived the attempt on his life, Bam was approached by Hwaryun, another “Regular”, who offered to train him so that he may climb the tower and figure out why it drove Rachel to do what she did. Now in the second season, Bam goes by the name Jue Viole Grace and has become a Slayers candidate forthe anti-Jahad organization known as FUG.

Six years since Rachel’s attempt on Bam’s life, the series focuses on a new main character, a young man named Ja Wangnan. Since Rachel feigned paralysis in her legs, Khun Aguero made it his responsibility to finish what Bam “died” trying to do: help Rachel achieve her goal of climbing the tower; however, his contempt for her was made clear in the last episode of season 1 when he told Rachel that he wishes that Bam had met him instead of her.

The Room That Can’t Be Trusted

The Test of Viole’s Strength

From the third episode of season 2, we can expect the Trustworthy Room Test to start, and it was already teased in episode 2 when the Regulars were sent to some well-furbished rooms to wait for the next test. There’s a lot of deception that takes place, and Prince, having thought his cronies were loyal to him, winds up being betrayed by Kim Lurker; who had planned an alliance with several Regulars before they even made it to the previous testing site. The other element to this test is that all the Rankers are actually in competition against Viole, who goes toe-to-toe with a Ranker and thoroughly impresses him.

The nature of this test is even though it’s in their best interests to work together, which Ja Wangnan had done a good job at before beingbetrayed by his roommate, Nia, who joined Lurker’s side. Nia was subsequently murdered by Lurker as Ja Wangnan and the others listened. Enraged, Wangnan stormed to Viole’s location and struck a deal, and passed the test. In the aftermath, Love received a 10-day suspension for administering a test without permission from Gusgus, the Supervisor, who actually happens to be another agent of FUG, happy to report that “the Prince has passed”.

Aguero And Others To Receive Important Roles

Some of The Cast of the First Season Will Appear

After the Trustworthy Room Test, we will catch up with Khun Aguero, who has formed a team and climbed as far as the 25th level. He and Rachel have developed a complicated relationship as she maintains the facade of being a paraplegic, relying on him for various things over the six years since Bam’s death. While it can be stomach-churning to see her continue to lie and even trick Aguero, his duplicity is by far his most terrifying trait, as we learn that he has spent six years pretending not to suspect Rachel, hiding the fact that he knows about the report given by the doctor who attended to her after she was stabbed by Hoh.

She was never permanently injured, so shortly after Bam’s supposed death, Aguero told Shibisu to advance with the other Regulars from their group while he formed a new one and took on the burden of advancing with the individual most likely to be responsible for killing Bam.It is also likely that Rachel herself is awareof Aguero’s suspicion, which complicates things further. In every meeting with his team, Aguero tells them to treat Rachel well but to not grow attached for they will one day need the fortitude to ignore her screams.

Tower of God

“In FUG, there are those with a grudge against the Ten Great Families and Jahad. There are those who hate or envy them, and those who want to change the tower. For those people, a Slayer is their God to make their dreams come true.”

Season 2 In Two Parts?

Viole’s True Identity Is Confirmed

In the aftermath of the Trustworthy Room Test, Ja Wangnan will grow to respect Viole and see him as less of a threat, especially when Hwaryun and other agents of FUG show up to the apartment Viole has rented for himself and the Regulars. They act nice in front of the group, but when Wangnam is alone, he is told about Bam’s past; that he is only a Slayer for FUG because they threatened to kill his friends if they didn’t. Hwaryun, who pretended to be just another Regular in season 1 is actually one of the Guides of the tower. We also learn that Yu Han Sung, Test Director of the 2nd Floor, is the one who forced this role onto Bam as a FUG operative, which makes Wangnan sympathetic towards Bam for the first time.

We meet Ha Jinsung,Viole’s martial arts teacher, who confirms that Jue Viole Grace is Twenty-Fifth-Bam. As an Irregular, one who is not bound by the rules of the tower, Bam is the only chance FUG has of upending the status quo and killing Jahad himself, which is why he has this immense burden thrust upon him. In the manhwa, the second season ofTower of Godstarts with The Prince of Jahad arc, which introduces Wangnan and the others, and after another two-year time-skip, it is followed by the Workshop Battle, which takes place on the 30th Floor. It is likely that this season will be split into two cours, but there is no episode count available for us to know for sure, but based on the fact that this season of the anime is titled"Return of the Prince",it will likely adapt the corresponding arc in the manhwa in its entirety.

Tower of God is available onCrunchyroll, and new episodes air every Sunday.
