Not long after announcing the new mobile gameThe Walking Dead: Survivors, the title started releasing various advertising artwork. However, several social media users have noticed that this new artwork appears to have a striking resemblance to the coverfor the remake ofResident Evil 2, complete with the way two main characters are posed.
Because bothThe Walking Dead: SurvivorsandResident Evil 2are centered around fighting off zombie hordes, there are bound to be some similarities between the two titles. However, those who have pointed out the similarities to the two games are showing that it’s more than simply having themes that look alike. Some believe theSurvivorsartwork is more of a situation where it was directly ripped off from the established game.

A Twitter user going by the username @UweBollocks was among the first to point outhow muchThe Walking Dead: Survivors' newest ad campaignlooked like the cover ofResident Evil 2. That picture showed the two pictures side by side, with a caption that the user wasn’t a lawyer, but he felt like there was likely grounds for a lawsuit readily available.
Fans ofResident Evil 2know that the cover features Claire Redfieldand Leon Kennedy standing back to back while zombies close in on them. In the background was is a darkly lit landscape of buildings. Likewise, the cover of the new ad campaign forThe Walking Dead: Survivorsfeatures a male a female character standing back to back while brandishing their guns against an oncoming group of zombies. There’s even the same kind of city landscape in the background. While there are subtle differences in the two pictures, such as the male character being quite a bit taller than his female counterpart, other Twitter users couldn’t help see how closely the pictures resembled each other.
In a second post, Uwe Bollocks doubled down by saying that after looking at it further, it’s not a matter of the two pictures being “similar.” The user claimed it was a situation where one picture was laid over the other.
Other users soon agreed with the comment, even showing that whoever made the picture appeared to have not covered their tracks all that well. A closer look atThe Walking Dead: Survivorsimage showed thatClaire Redfield’s gun was still visible, just behind the other character’s weapon. For it’s part, the game’s creators have yet to come out and comment on the similarities that were pointed out in the pictures.
