Nick is one of the nine protagonists who are playable only in the first few chapters ofThe Quarry. Throughout chapter three, Nick andAbigail are technically the first to go through real dangerwith the monsters of Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp.
After having a little romantic moment, the lovers are attacked by a monster which forces Ryan to make important decisions so that he can save his friend. As a result, players need to be fast in picking their options and in performing the QTEs to obtain the Nick of Time Achievement.

How To Take The Fastest Route To Nick In The Quarry
In chapter three ofThe Quarry, Nick is bitten by a monster and gets infected while Abigail runs away. After she arrives at the bonfire, Abi demands that someone go and help Nick because he’s been attacked, and is heavily wounded.
While playing as Ryan, pick ASSERTIVE, take the shotgun, and be prepared for a lot of quick-timed actions. After running for a while, choose TAKE SHORTCUT to reach Nick faster. However, there are many QTEs that’ll appear, and they are much harder and faster than the normal ones, but they must be completed successfully:
Next, another split path will appear. Same as before, choose TAKE SHORTCUT and Ryan will take a riskier route. Complete all the given QTEs without messing up any of them:
How To Get The Nick Of Time Achievement
Finally, Ryan arrives only to find Nick getting dragged by a hunter, Bobby Hackett, and people are rewarded with the Nick of Time Achievement.
How To Free Nick From The Hunter In The Quarry
Upon reaching Nick, Ryan finds a hunter dragging him. Players will have the option to SHOUT, but it won’t make a difference. After that, Ryan aims the shotgun at Bobby Hackett and threatens him that he’ll shoot.
Not shooting the hunter results inNick biting his fingerand then running to Ryan. This causes Bobby to remove the infected finger using the gun, which freaks Ryan out. On the other hand, shooting Bobby will make him go away, but notbefore dropping a blood vial,which will be a key item in chapter 10. After that, both return to the bonfire, and the group tries to evaluate Nick’s condition.
How To Use The Blood Vial In The Quarry
To use the blood vial, people need to keep both Laura and Ryan alive and make Travisagree to work with them in chapter 10 to find Silas, the White Wolf. Before confronting the werewolf, while playing as Laura, Ryan offers the vial to her for extra protection.
Picking the TAKE VIAL option leads to Laura staying alive alone while Travis and Ryan die a brutal death, whereas GIVE TO RYAN option will mask Ryan’s scent and protect him from the werewolf’s attack after the monster ends Travis and Laura’s life. Do note that both ofthese scenarios only happen if players chose not to kill Silas.
