A new update forThe Dark Pictures Anthology’sfirst two installments,Man of MedanandLittle Hope,has been released. The new update was revealed earlier today that includes, but is not limited to, new options and difficulty settings for the games. In addition, a new extended chapter has been added to the first installment ofThe Dark Pictures Anthology, with new gameplay and character deaths.
In 2015, Supermassive Games released the interactive drama horror game,Until Dawn. Following the game’s critical and commercial success, the developer went on to create a series of similar horror games that became known asThe Dark Pictures Anthology.Man of MedanandLittle Hopewere both met with a somewhat mixed critical reception, but the developer is still ready and willing to support the games.

Earlier this year,Supermassive Games was bought by Nordisk Gamesand this new update may have something to do with this. As part of a new update forThe Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of MedanandLittle Hope, publisher Namco Bandi revealed a new update for the games free to those who already have them. It was announced through the publisher’s official YouTube channel, which detailed the updates. The aforementioned new options include improved UI and gameplay mechanics alongside wider accessibility options with new quick-time event warnings.
In addition to the update for the first two games, Supermassive Games is currently working on another game in the franchise.The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Meis currently set to be released in November, and will be the last installment in what has been dubbed the series' first season. It is currently unknown if a second season of games will go into development or if the developer will move on to other projects. It is also worth noting that the studio has already started to branch out from the series.
Earlier this year, Supermassive Games released a game titledThe Quarry.While very similar toThe Dark Pictures Anthology, the game had no connection to the series.The Quarrydirector Will Byles has since teased another project that will be similar in scale to his recent game as opposed to the shorterDark Picturesgame. Whether the developer will continue to focus on such projects in addition to a new season ofThe Dark Pictures Anthologyremains to be seen. For now, however, it appears both the developer and publisher Namco Bandi are both committed to making the already released games as complete and accessible as possible.
