For anyone out there who likes a good overpriced burger with a side of ultraviolence and questionable morality, the perfect restaurant has finally shown itself. Amazon has created an immersive pop-up restaurant based on their hit superhero seriesThe Boys, and it aims to give fans the full experience while they enjoy their meal. Hopefully, they include a lot of napkins.
Taking place from June 4th through the 6th and located at the Hollywood Palladium theater in Los Angeles, the limited time eatery named “Planet Vought Hollywood” (after the show’s devilish mega-corporation) aims to not only maintain accuracy with the show itself but to also give customers a fully immersive in-universe storyline exclusive to the restaurant. Looks likethe idea of aCupheadrestaurantisn’t so farfetched after all. Due to safety protocols related to COVID-19, guests will have to remain in their cars for what is being called a drive-thru restaurant. But the location promises that this won’t dampen the experience at all.

“Your 40-minute reservation includes everything from delicious themed food items, ‘Super’ hospitality from the staff at Vought International, and in-world surprises,” says the restaurant’s official sign-up site. “Each element will be as truly diabolical as fans ofThe Boyshave come to expect and will be enjoyed from the safety of your car.” It’s already certainly a one-of-a-kind achievement, especially given how most restaurants wouldn’t list “diabolical” among their most preferred promotional buzzwords. Then again, the same page also gives a content warning related to depictions of guns and violence (though maybethe similarly visceralInvinciblecould pull it off), so they’re setting all kinds of precedents here, aren’t they?
Fans ofThe Boyswill recognize the Vought name as the evil corporation seen in the show. It’s the company behind the famous superhero team known as “The Seven” and is effectively the driving force behind much of the series' conflicts. The show itself deals with a world where superheroes (or “supes”) have become not only mainstream but entirely commercialized, so a restaurant that capitalizes on its popularity is rather appropriate if a bit ominous. “The Boys” in-universe refers to the ragtag team of regular non-superpowered people attempting to bring down Vought and maybe kill a few supes along the way. There’s a reasonThe Boysis such a bloody show.
It’s certainly a creative way to promote the series. It’s reminiscent of that time when the people behindBreaking Badopened a series of pop-up car wash locations across the country based on the one from the show, though this instance will probably be a bit less subtle with its execution. But it’s still a pretty safe bet that it will be a success. Even non-fans of the show might be interested in the idea since everybody loves a spectacle.
Interested fans in the Hollywood area can head to thePlanet Vought Hollywood signup siteto reserve a spot during the pop-up restaurant’s June 4-6 run. Hard to say whether it will be more or less imposing than thelife-size Lady Dimitrescu cutoutsused to promoteResident Evil Village. But either way, it will probably feature a lot of red sauces.
The Boysis now available on Amazon Prime Video.
