Summary
WithThe BoysspinoffGen Vcoming out soon, one of the show’s stars, Jaz Sinclair, who is set to play blood-bending supe Marie Moreau, revealed what Jack Quaid advised during the show’s production.
According to Sinclair, Quaid, who plays the main characterHughie Campbell inThe Boys, advised Sinclair to treat theGen Vcast like family. In other words, to stay unified while the show is filming. That is how they’ll be able to complete the production. Sinclair didn’t say it directly, but it sounded like Quaid said this because some of the stuff they do onThe Boyscan be hard to process. After all, it is often disturbing content.

Sinclair revealed what Quaid told her while talking withSFX Magazine. “Oh yeah, Jack Quaid!. He was just like, ‘Stay a family, stay a team. This is where it’s at. If you guys have each other, you’ll get through this. So, don’t lose sight of that.’ This is the real family, you know, talking about the cast and, like, really being unified,” Sinclair said. “And I value that because you can feel that when they’re together.”
If fans look at any of the actors' personal Instagrams fromThe Boys, they will see that they are a tight-knit group of people, as they always share photos of themselves on and off the set. Even though they play mortal enemies on the show, the actors have a strong rapport with one another. Given that the characters on both sides do disturbing things during the show, being able to turn to each other after performing something that can be pretty horrifying (even if it’s fake) can be helpful. Quaid knows that all too well. Hopefully, theGen Vcastwill follow suit, even if the show is more about supers in college than it is about a team of people trying to get rid of them.
WhileGen Vwill be a spinoff tied toThe Boys, it won’t necessarily (and hopefully) follow the same beats, so one can’t help but wonder what disturbing things they will do that will prove themselves different from their predecessor. The appeal ofThe Boysdoesn’t just stem from the fact that they cross lines that other superhero media wouldn’t think to touch, but becauseHomelander is essentially the ultimate trump cardwho has to be stopped if there’s a way to stop him. With that not currently in the mix, one will wonder how they’ll compensate with no Evil Superman.
The show’s trailer indicates the show focuses on young supes who discover the college’s dirty secrets. That may all sound well and good, and the show has a strong enough fanbase that they will welcome worldbuilding, butGen Vhas to be carefulnot to straight-up rip off whatThe Boyshas already done.
