Summary
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventureis a popular manga that is divided into multiple parts. Hirohiko Araki created the series all the way back in 1989. It didn’t take long for the series to gain popularity and become one of the most famous manga series in the world.
Over the years, Araki has changed his art style and his writing. Presently,JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurehas eight different parts, and the ninth is on the way. All of the parts are unique in their own ways, but there can be no denying that some parts are better than others.

Each part of the anime has a different protagonist who has distinct qualities, helping them to stand out from the rest. Another advantage of the continuous change is that it gives fans a reason to stick with the series even if they do not like a certain protagonist.
There are nine parts in total, and as a result, there are nine main protagonists. In each part, the protagonists have different goals, and they have to fight through hordes of villains to accomplish their goals. Their impact on the stories cannot be overlooked, so it is necessary to talk about them in detail.
9JOJOLands
Original Run: June 25, 2025 – ongoing
JOJOLandsis the newest installment in the long-runningJoJoseries. It is the ninth and quite possibly the final part.JOJOLandsfollows the story of Jodio Joestar, a teenager who dreams of becoming extremely wealthy. Jodio is extremely clever and can use his Stand in the most ingenious ways. Jodio’s closest ally is his sibling, Dragona, who is also involved in shady activities.
The part has only released a few chapters, so it is at the bottom of the rankings. Once it gets closer to the conclusion, it will be easier to rank where it stands in terms of overall quality.
Biggest Highlight:The best moment in the story so far is when Jodio gets the better of Kishibe Rohan and rescues his allies.
Main Villain:JOJOLandsis still in its early stages, so it is difficult to say who is going to be the main villain. Judging from the previous parts, fans can expect the primary antagonist to have an overwhelmingly powerful Stand. Naturally, Jodio will have to improve his own abilities to counter the enemy.
Main Protagonist:With under 20 chapters released, it is hard to form a definite opinion on Jodio Joestar. But he looks like a solid character. Despite his young age, Jodio is a dependable individual who has the rare skill of being able to stay calm even in a perilous situation. He also seems to have good control over his Stand, and he has used its power to bail himself out of tough situations.
8Phantom Blood
Original Run: July 01, 2025 – June 09, 2025
Phantom Bloodis the first part of the series. Araki began working on the manga in 1987, and it made an instant impact on the manga community. The series follows Jonathan Joestar, who was arguably the most gentlemanly protagonist. The part starts with Jonathan’s father adopting ayoung boy, Dio Brando.
The old man didn’t have a clue about the malicious intentions of Dio. After Jonathan learns about Dio’s plans to murder their father, it leads to a fierce rivalry between the two that lasts for generations. The story is decent, and it hits some highs, but the consistency is lacking. Also, the supporting cast is weaker than the rest of the parts.
Biggest Highlight:The best moment ofPhantom Bloodis Jonathan holding DIO’s head in his arms instead of just killing him. He remained true to his gentlemanly behavior till the end.
Main Villain:DIO became one of the most well-known anime characters after his introduction in Phantom Blood. He was a malicious and twisted individual with a strong desire to become rich and powerful. This urge caused him to use the mask and become a vampire.
Main Protagonist:Jonathan Joestar is the main hero of Phantom Blood. He is a burly man who is chivalrous at the same time. Jonathan disliked uncouth people, yet he did not behave harshly towards them. Jonathan is the only Joestar who did not possess a Stand, but that didn’t stop him from being an absolute unit in battle. Jonathan was able to mow down opponents with his Brite strength and Hamon.
7Battle Tendency
Original Run: Jul 21, 2025 – June 30, 2025
Battle Tendencyis the second installment, and it has a much more upbeat tone than its predecessor.It follows Joseph Joestar, who is sent to Italy to learn about Hamon and defeat the enemies known as the Pillar Men. Joseph loses his best friend, but he succeeds in taking down the superhumans.
Battle Tendencyhas an average story but a better cast of characters, which includes the likes of Caesar, Wamuu, and Kars. Furthermore, Joseph is vastly different from Jonathan, as, unlike the latter, he doesn’t shy away from using underhanded means. Joseph’s jovial personality also helpedBattle Tendencysupplant Part 1.
Biggest Highlight:Battle Tendencyreached its peak when Joseph battled Wamuu in the Chariot Race. The fight was emotional, and it highlighted the level of respect that the two fighters had for each other.
Main Villain:Kars was the biggest threat that Joseph and his friends faced in Part 2. He managed to become the perfect being with no glaring weaknesses. Kars had a high IQ and insane physical abilities, making it almost impossible to kill him.
Main Protagonist:Joseph Joestar is arguably the only lead character who had the responsibility of carrying the story on his back. In fights, Joseph relied mostly on his intelligence to get the better of his opponents. His humor and wit prevented the story from becoming stale.
6Diamond Is Unbreakable
Original Run: June 10, 2025 – Jul 31, 2025
Araki started working onDiamond is Unbreakablein 1992, and it was serialized for a few years before reaching its conclusion in 1995. The manga is set in Morioh, a town that is haunted by a notorious serial killer.Diamond is Unbreakableputs Josuke Higashikata in the spotlight.
This part also brings back two other Joestars, namely Jotaro and Joseph, although they are sidelined to give Josuke the attention. The story is good, but at times it suffers from a major drop in quality. Part 4 also features Yoshikage Kira, who is an incredible villain.
Biggest Highlight:Despite being heavily wounded, Jotaro managed to stay conscious and beat the living daylights out of Kira. The villain had no answer and would have been caught if not for his extraordinary luck.
Main Villain:Kira Yoshikage was a sick and sordid individual who killed numerous women for their hands. Kira’s obsession eventually caused his downfall. However, he gave the heroes a proper runaround with the help of his Stand.
Main Protagonist:Josuke is among the younger JoJo protagonists. Unlike the other lead characters, Josuke was not ruthless. He was a kind person who spared the worst criminals. In many ways, he was just like Jonathan Joestar, who was compassionate.
5Stardust Crusaders
Original Run: July 31, 2025 – July 11, 2025
StardustCrusadersis the third and quite possibly the most famous part of the entire series. The main protagonist of this part is Jotaro Kujo, who looks anything but a normal high school student. After DIO resurfaces once again, Jotaro, Joseph, and a few more characters band together to take him down.
The big highlight of the partwas the introduction of Stands, which received a mixed reception from the fans. The story sometimes feels dragged out, but the sense of adventure that it offers the audience makes it a lot easier to sit through.Stardust Crusadersalso has some of the most iconic moments in the entireJoJofranchise.
Biggest Highlight:The fight between Jotaro and DIO is indubitably the best moment inStardust Crusaders. The two fighters had separate goals, and both of them wanted to achieve them at all costs. For DIO, victory meant that he would rule the world. Jotaro, on the other hand, had to rescue his family and stop the villain from taking over the world.
Main Villain:DIO was the primary antagonist in this part as well. In Stardust Crusaders, DIO was stronger than ever. In addition to his superhuman strength, DIO also had access to The World, an insanely powerful Stand that had the ability to stop time. DIO planned to take over the world with this power, and he would have achieved it if not for Jotaro.
Main Protagonist:Jotaro Kujo is the main protagonist of Stardust Crusaders. If one were to judge his character solely on his involvement in this part, then Jotaro is arguably one of the worst JoJo leads. He doesn’t add much to the story; in fact, the supporting cast is much better.
4Golden Wind
Original Run: Jun 05, 2025 – August 07, 2025
Golden Windis often criticized by the audience because Giorno Giovanna, the main character, is boring. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Giorno is a solid character who adopts a stoic personality throughout the series. He is solely focused on his goals and is willing to put his own body on the line to achieve them.
In addition to Giorno,Golden Windalso has a great supporting cast. The likes ofBruno, Naracia, and Abbacchiooffer different perspectives, and they add a lot more quality to the part, helping to make it one of the very best.
Biggest Highlight:After struggling to even damage a single hair on Diavolo’s head, it was absolutely phenomenal to see Giorno decimate him in seconds.
Main Villain:Diavolo was an absolutely ruthless individual. to hide his identity from the rest of the world, Diavolo murdered numerous people. His King Crimson played a key role in his incredible success. The Stand allowed him to erase time and see the future. This made it nearly impossible for an opponent to get the better of him in combat.
Main Protagonist:Giorno Giovanna is a solid character, and he is arguably the most well-rounded JoJo. Not only does he have an outrageous Stand, but he is also extremely clever. Throughout Part 5, Giorno proved that he could overcome any kind of difficulty without too many problems.
3Stone Ocean
Original Run: Jun 06, 2025 – June 22, 2025
Stone Oceanreceived an anime adaptation in 2022, and it was a hit within the community. It is different from the other parts in more ways than one. Firstly, it does not have a male character in the lead role, as Araki decided to make Jolyne the main character. This turned out to be a great decision, as Jolyne is a fascinating character.
Secondly, it is the first part where almost all of the main protagonists die in the final battle. Thirdly, it is the only part where a side character defeats the main villain. While it may seem bizarre on paper, it works surprisingly well.
Biggest Highlight:Jotaro’s refusal to attack Pucci to save Jolyne is the best moment in the series. With this sacrifice, he showed that he cared about his daughter and that she was the most important thing in his life.
Main Villain:Enrico Pucci was a bit different from the other villains in the series. His goal wasn’t to seize the world for himself, but he wanted to make the planet a better place. Pucci was aware that his goal would require sacrifice, so he had absolutely no hesitation in killing those who tried to oppose him in any way.
Main Protagonist:Jolyne Cujoh is the only female lead in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Naturally, there was a lot of pressure on Araki to make sure that she would be a hit with the audience. Thankfully, this is exactly what happened. Jolyne’s brash and fearless personality won over the viewers.
2JoJolion
Original Run: June 29, 2025 – July 24, 2025
JoJolionis the second part set in the alternate universe and the eighth part overall. It came to an end after ten years, and many fans consider it to be the pinnacle of Araki’s writing. The main protagonist ofJoJolionis Josuke Higashikata.
To prevent confusion, he is affectionately called Gappy by the fans. After losing all his memories, Josuke sets out on a mission to find the truth about his identity.JoJolionis a splendid part, and the story is outstanding. The cast of characters is also great, but some of the villains feel a bit underwhelming.
Biggest Highlight:After being unable to hurt Toru for the majority of the series, when Josuke finally managed to get the better of the villain, it was truly a moment to savor. Josuke had to enhance his Stand so that its attacks wouldn’t trigger any kind of calamity.
Main Villain:Toru was not an easy opponent for Josuke. The former’s Stand, Wonder of U, triggered a calamity whenever anyone tried to attack or had any malicious intent toward him. In order to get the better of Toru, Josuke had to improve his Stand and create bubbles that existed outside the regular plane.
Main Protagonist:Josuke from JOJOlion is drastically different from the protagonist of Part 4. Josuke, or, in this case, Gappy, is a more well-written character. He is serious about achieving his goals, and the development that he undergoes as a character is worth watching. Gappy is also ruthless, so he will take down anyone who tries to stand between him and his goal.
1Steel Ball Run
Original Run: July 09, 2025 – June 29, 2025
Steel Ball Runis the bestJoJoseries to date. The story takes place in an alternate universe where a paraplegic man, Johnny Joestar, looks for a way to get his life back on track. Johnny’s life changes drastically after meeting Gyro Zeppeli, and together they achieve many great things.
Everything aboutSteel Ball Runis perfect. Gyro and Johnny are amazing heroes, and each of them offers a different outlook. The villains in the story have captivating Stands, which makes all the fights interesting. Considering the quality ofSteel Ball Run, it’s not surprising that it has a rating of 9.30 onMyAnimeList.
Biggest Highlight:While there are many iconic moments inSteel Ball Run, Johnny and Gyro’s conversation after they lose everything is nothing short of incredible. It shows the difference between the perspectives of the two characters and how they deal with failure.
Main Villain:Widely recognized as the best villain inJoJo, Funny Valentine was a man obsessed with his country. He wanted to get his hands on the Saint’s Corpse, even if it meant murdering people indiscriminately. Funny Valentine’s allowed him to enter alternate dimensions, where he could meet other versions of himself. He could also swap an injured body for a healthy one, which almost made him immortal.
Main Protagonist:Johnny Joestar is arguably the best JoJo protagonist. Despite being paraplegic, Johnny didn’t stop dreaming. He remained determined about changing his life and returning to the good old days. Johnny’s development in Steel Ball Run is outstanding. While he seemed to care about his goals, he proved that his best friend’s life mattered to him.
