The Batmanhas gone on a tear in movie theaters all over the world, but there may be one very good motive to pick up the movie’s upcoming digital or Blu-ray release. It’s now been revealed that the home release ofThe Batmanwill include a 90-second deleted scene featuring Catwoman and The Penguin.
Just a few weeks ago, a harrowing 5-minute interrogation scene with Barry Keoghan’s Joker was made public, although director Matt Reeves made clear the reason it was ultimately dismissed was because of how difficult it was to find a proper place for it in a film that’s almost three hours long. Now, asThe Batmangets closer to its simultaneous release on several digital formats, including HBO Max, it looks like Reeves is also ready to push some extra Penguin footage, a worthy addition considering Oswald Cobblepot will star in his own spinoff.

According to Collider, the scenesees Selina Kyleencounter the Penguin at their 44 Below Club workplace, and judging from the two’s relationship in the film, that brief minute and a half meeting will not necessarily be on the most amicable terms. InThe Batman, Selina works at the Iceberg Lounge where the underground 44 Below Club is hidden. She even goes on a secret mission coordinated with Batman to spy on Gotham’s justice department employees, so it’s possible this scene could have been written to fit somewhere in between that mission.
The Batman’sBlu-ray and digital edition will of course come bundled with plenty of other exclusives. These include several inside looks intothe making of the Batmobile, Bruce’s suit, how the film’s epic car chase scene was filmed or what went into creating the aesthetics and personalities of Catwoman, the Penguin, Batman, and the Riddler. Thus, starting April 18, this new content should see the movie add some extra revenue to its coffers afterThe Batmancollected over $737 million worldwide at the box office.
Naturally,The Batman’s Blu-ray will also feature the Joker scene, which might give fans the extra high-fidelity video they need to sort out any speculative theories that suggest this visit is what allows the Joker to escape Arkham in the future. Then again, beyond the confirmed Penguin series, Reeves has also revealedchanging plans for the otherThe Batmanspinoff, which will now focus on Arkham Asylum, the Joker’s current place of residence.
Above all things,The Batmanhas made a compelling case for the DC to keep its superheroes from mingling with each other, so the fact that Reeves' universe is taking form on its own will do wonders for any sequels. Maybe the director can even getMr. Freeze to star inThe Batmansequels.
The Batmanreleases digitally on April 18 and will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD beginning on June 09, 2025.
