Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguedebuted a 15-minute gameplay trailer that was mixed in with interviews with Rocksteady developers that confirmed the inclusion of a controversial gear system. This has left some gamers concerned about possible live service elements inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
The trailer reveal was part ofa Sony State of Play streamthat saw the debut of several new titles and some new trailers for games that were already announced. The lion’s share of the show was devoted toSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.It’s being developed by London-based Rocksteady Studios, the same developer responsible for the belovedBatman Arkhamseries that began with 2009’sBatman: Arkham Asylum. The first official trailer was revealed during DC’s FanDome online event in the summer of 2020.

Kill the Justice Leaguewill be a third-person four-player co-op brawler/shooter wherein the titular team of DC Comics criminal misfits and ne’er-do-wells are forced to band together to kill the Justice League who are being mind-controlled by Brainiac.The State of Play trailer confirmed the rumor of live service elements, and even a Battle Pass, which is giving off too much of aMarvel’s Avengersvibe for some gamers.Marvel’s Avengerswas a hugely hyped cooperative game in the same vein asKill the Justice Leaguethat fans complained had several poorly implemented live service elements.
Players will be able to collect various types of gear and weapons and will implement a gear score system. All gear will be upgradeable. The higher the gear score, the better-suited weapons will be for more difficult missions. Rocksteady also confirmed long-term post-launch support that includes missions, weapons, and characters. Rocksteady promises the battle pass will only apply to cosmetic upgrades. WhileKill the Justice Leagueis primarily a four-player experience, it can also be played solo with AI companions rounding out the squad. Rocksteady confirmed the gamewill take place in the same universe as itsArkhamseries, and isset five years after the events of 2015’sBatman:Arkham Knight. This is further evidenced by the firm voice cast that includes Nolan North reprising his role as the Penguin and the late Kevin Conroy returning as Batman/Bruce Wayne.
