How to Increase Ship Crew Capacity
In Starfield, players have two ways to max out the ship crew size: They can eitherunlock the Ship Command skill or purchase larger ship modules.
Unlock and Level Up the Ship Command Skill
At Rank 4,the Ship Command skillincreases the crew capacity to a total of eight. However, players will also need torank up their Piloting skillto be able to operate large Type-B and Type-C vessels that allow more staff.
Purchase Larger Ship Components
Alarger Hab or Cockpit modulewill increase the ship’s crew size. Players can purchase these upgrades by talking to a Ship Services Technician and asking them tomodify starships.
How to Increase Outpost Crew Size
To assign more crew members to an outpost, players will need toset up more Crew Station units. These stations can be found in the Miscellaneous section ofthe Build Modeand require five aluminum, two iron, and three nickel to construct. Each station will expand the crew size by one. However, after the upgrade, players will still need to manually assign more employees to the Outpost.
Alternatively, players can alsolevel up the Outpost Management skill to Rank 3, which allows them to have more staff.

How to Hire More Crew Members
Players looking to increase squad members shouldvisit bars and hotel lobbies to find recruitable characters. For instance, Viewport in Jemison is a hub for discovering new ship members. Hiring new staff members typically involves paying an upfront fee, although this cost can be negotiated with persuasion skills.
When recruiting new members, prioritize the named ones. These characters usually have detailed backgrounds and come with extensive skills.
