Summary
AStardew Valleyplayer has discovered that an item currently available in the base game was suggested by another fan years ago. The discovery is just one indication of how ConcernedApe listens to fans and often implements ideas that are suggested forStardew Valley’s future updates.
TheStardew Valleyfanbase often has next to nothing but praise for the title, but that doesn’t mean that fans haven’t come up with their own ideas for the title. While not every suggestion made by a player is going to make it to the game, ConcernedApe seems to keep track of what the fans are asking for. The fact that this importantStardew Valleytool has the same stats in the game to what a player was suggesting indicates it’s just one more example of this.

Player devourerofsugar shared their discovery regarding theIridium Scythe inStardew Valley. Iridium Scythes are the final upgrade for the farming tool, which come with a variety of perks. While perusing theStardew Valleysubreddit, devourerofsugar discovered a 3-year-old post that suggested an Iridium Scythe be added to the game. Given each tool follows a progression through the available upgrade ores in the game, it may not come as a big surprise that the scythe eventually received this upgrade. However, some of suggested stats are identical to what made it to the game.
The original post by TzarOfMinecraft suggested that the Iridium Scythe would be unique by turning every blade of grass struck into hay to feed the player’s animals. The scythe would also deal twenty damage, and would have the same large range as the golden scythe.Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update made the Iridium Scythe a reality, including the exact same damage and hay gathering stats. However, that isn’t to say that it didn’t receive ConcernedApe’s own touch as well, as the game’s official version of the Iridium Scythe actually has a larger range thanStardew Valley’s Golden Scythe, and the final upgrade can also be used to quickly gather ready crops.
Stardew Valley Fans Ask, and ConcernedApe Listens
Many players seem to be impressed by the discovery that the developer was so closely paying attention to fans' ideas. However, many also pointed out that this isn’t the first time that the developer has looked to the players for concepts on how to make the game better. In addition to responding to some players' requests directly on social media, there were also a number of changes that have come to the game lately that mirror those available in popular mods. The newStardew Valleydehydratorand cold weather wardrobe on town NPCs were concepts both previously available in mods, and now an official take on these two items are available in the base game. Through both ConcernedApe and the community’s ideas, the game has continued to grow and flourish over the years.
