With the release ofNieR Replicantjust two months away, Square Enix decided to treat eager players to the debut of the game’s opening cinematic. The three-minuteNieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139intro offers an extended look at the game’s revitalized graphics and beautifully remastered soundtrack.

Published by Square Enix,NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139serves as a remaster for 2010’s cult action RPG,NieR Replicant. TheNieRseries is a spin-off of theDrakengardseries set in a universe where Earth has decayed and the human race is on the brink of extinction. TheNieRfranchise garnered newfound attention after the incredible success of its follow-up title,NieR: Automata, which recently celebrated amajor sales milestone on its fourth anniversary.

Fans of the originalNieR Replicantmay find the cinematic familiar, and for good reason. The opening cinematic is a shot-for-shot revamp of the original game’s title sequence, featuring revitalized music and a complete graphical overhaul. Newly recorded voiceovers by theoriginal voice actors for Kainé and Grimoire Weissaccompany the visual tour throughNieR Replicant.

The cinematic cuts quickly between the game’s various locations and pivotal characters. Outside of the main cast, players are introduced to key characters like the Masked People, Yonah, and Devola. Some of the game’s vicious enemies make an appearance, including scenes from the deadly Hansel and Gretel encounter.

One ofNieR’s most recognizable features is the outstanding music direction led by Japanese composer, Keiichi Okabe. The cinematic includes fan favorites, including the haunting “Emil / Karma” track which concludes the cinematic.

Square Enix has been generous in sharing a wealth of content for theNieR Replicantremaster. The developer recently released a video showing off overnine minutes of gameplay set in the Barren Temple. After exploring the mysterious temple, the protagonist begins to exhibit all of the bells and whistles of the newly updated combat system. Gameplay appears noticeably smoother and the temple itself has been brought to life thanks to the enhanced capabilities of modern consoles.

ForNieRfans willing to spend a little extra cash for some exclusive collectibles, Square EnixrevealedNieR Replicant’s White Snow Edition. The White Snow Edition can only be pre-ordered from Square Enix’s online store for $159.99. Though currently unavailable, a waitlist is available for sign-up to alert interested customers about upcoming restocks.
