UPDATE 11/11: There are now conflicting reports about this online, with someSpider-Man Remasteredplayers providing video evidence that the Avengers reference is still in the game.
Original story follows.
While may are excited forSpider-Man: Miles Moralessimply to experiencea new adventure as Miles, the game’s Ultimate Edition also comes with a full-fledged PlayStation 5 remaster of the originalSpider-Mangame from 2018.
Insomniac has already demonstrated the waysSpider-Manwill take advantage of the PS5’s capabilities, such asimproved lighting and ray-tracing, which has made a very noticeable difference to the visuals, but it appears there may be one or two much smaller changes as well.

Greg Miller of Kinda Funny recently shared an in-game clip on Twitter of Spider-Man taking a picture of Avengers Tower. In the original game, Spidey comments on how the Avengers are never around to use it and jokes that they’re probably on the West Coast at the moment. In the clip of the PS5 version, though, the West Coast comment is completely absent.
No official explanation has been given as to why the reference has been changed, but Miller posits the possibility that it has something to do withSquare Enix’sAvengersgame. There, the Avengers are actually based on the West Coast, with the opening level taking place in San Francisco and featuring the Golden Gate Bridge.
With Spider-Man to appear in theAvengersgame as a future DLC character (albeit one exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles) and it being previously confirmed thathe won’t be the same character as Insomniac’s Spider-Man, maybe Insomniac removed the reference to avoid any confusion.
The original line may not even have meant to reference Square Enix’sAvengersand could’ve arguably been a nod towards the West Coast Avengers (a separate team initially founded by Hawkeye), but the deed has been done regardless.
This is admittedly not a drastic change and is unlikely to ruffle anyone’s feathers, as opposed to when Insomniac opted tocompletely change Peter’s faceand give him a brand new look for the PS5 version. The decision received plenty of criticism from some fans, who found the new face made Peter seem much younger than he was supposed to be.
As forAvengers, it could probably do with an appearance from Spider-Man about now to give it a much needed boost. It received a pretty lukewarm reception at launch, its player-base has since dwindled, and its first batch of major DLC had to be delayed. Square Enix’s latest financial report even shows that the company hassuffered losses followingAvengers' release.
Spider-Man Remasteredwill release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
