The five new virtual reality games announced during the State of Play includeThe Foglands,Synapse,Journey to Foundation,Green Hell VR, and theaward-winning titleBefore Your Eyes. Before Your Eyesis perhaps the standout of the group. It originally launched in 2021 and was met with resounding critical acclaim. PlayStation VR2 players will get to play it starting March 10.

All four additional VR announcements are exciting, too. InThe Foglands, players get a tense shooter roguelike set in a strange sci-fi western world.Green Hell VRis a survival gametasking players to survive in a jungle while under constant threat, crafting food and shelter while battling predators.Synapseis a new action-shooter from the creators ofFracked, mixing in telekinesis-driven physics-based combat. Lastly,Journey to Foundationis inspired by Isaac Asimov’s classic sci-fi books, offering a narrative adventure as the player becomes a galactic spymaster.
Before Your Eyesis unfortunately the only game of the five to have a firm release date at this time. All four other games,Journey to Foundation,Green Hell VR,Synapse, andThe Foglands, are tentatively planned for later this year. There should beplenty of PlayStation VR2 titles available in the interimto keep players busy, but it may be disappointing for some VR fans hoping today’s announcements would arrive more quickly.
In the end, what matters most is that Sony keeps the pipeline of PlayStation VR2 games flowing. Bringing over PC orMeta Quest VR gamesthat may not have been available on PlayStation VR, as well as offering new titles as they launch, will ensure that PlayStation VR2 has a healthy and successful run. The PS5 andPlayStation VR2will hopefully have a productive future together.
