As beloved as it is, even after more than a decade,The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis infamous for being bug-ridden or easy to break. Even theSkryimAnniversary Edition has been known to have game breaking glitches. For some, the fact that it is a little unstable only adds to the overall charm. It’s become a sort of joke now and even expected that there are mishaps within Bethesda’s open-world epic, and one fan decided to almost intentionally crash the game.
Deciding that they didn’t want to carry a lot of excess gear around, a user on Reddit has uploaded a clip of theirSkyrimplaythrough showing the street absolutely teeming with items and weapons. The video shows that the game is running at significantly lower framerates with all the extra things that need to be rendered. Amusingly, it doesn’t seem to stop the NPC children from frolicking as they run through the detritus, seemingly unfazed by it. The user goes on to say that they then dumped even more items, which is apparently more than the Xbox Series X can handle, and the game ultimately locked up.

For those curious about the location, the player specifically chose to drop all this gear outsideBreezehome which is located in Whiterun inSkyrim. It’s a very well-known location, more often than not being the first spot after leaving Riverwood that most players will encounter early on in the game. It contains the Dragonborn’s first home, the Jarl who sits upon the throne in Dragonsreach, the NPC that everyone loves to hate, and is now also apparently a good place to dump a load of stuff in the streets.
There areso many glitches inSkyrimthat players are more than happy to show off. Yet this is a rare instance in which someone has broken the game almost on purpose. While the majority of bugs are pretty harmless, and some are in fact quite amusing, there are those which can actually ruin the experience by either crashing the game entirely or breaking the player’s immersion.
WithThe Elder Scrolls 6still allegedly in pre-production, it’s going to be a long time before players will see the next installment in the long-running fantasy series. It’s hardly surprising then thatSkyrimplayers are just finding ways to keep themselves amused in Tamriel. Perhaps fans are starting to get bored of waiting for a new entry in the franchise, or maybe people are just experimenting to see what they can get away with before the game completely breaks.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrimis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
