Skyrimfeatures a long list of interesting enemies that players can take on as they progress through the game. While not every fight is as intense as others, the game still offers players a killcam to add to the dramatics of the moment. OneSkyrimplayer, however, was robbed of their impressive killcam when a piece of scenery got in the way.

Skyrimwas released over a decade ago and is the fifth major installment ofThe Elder Scrollsseries. Killcams are a game mechanic inSkyrimandThe Elder Scrolls Onlinethat give players a cinematically delivered strike to finish off an enemy.

U/Hank_Handsome is the player who features in this clip and their battle with an Elder Dragon features such a frustrating end. This video starts with u/Hank_Handsome following the Elder Dragon while it circles their character in the sky. This relativelydifficult enemy inSkyrimfinally lands right in front of this player but is no match for u/Hank_Handsome. The dragon is right about to die when the game jumps to a cinematic killcam. Unfortunately for this player and anyone who watches, the angle used for this moment shows nothing more than a nearby tree. There are some wing movements viewable along the very edge of the screen, but that is about it. After this, the game drops u/Hank_Handsome back to their normal field of view.

Triggering killcams can only happen if killing the enemy will take the player right out of combat. In this circumstance, u/Hank_Handsome was tackling just the one Elder Dragon and therefore the game recognizes that this killing blow will move the player out of combat. Unfortunately, because the camera change brings the field of view outside a player, it can be obstructed like this.

Though moments like this can be frustrating for players, thekillcams inSkyrimcan lead to exciting moments. The variety of kills that the game offers gives players things to look forward to while tackling different enemies of the game. Though it isn’t perfect, it does add an interesting layer to an important part of the game.

Then again, having moments such as this one for u/Hank_Handsome get ruined by scenery can be really frustrating for players. And, after having seen dozens of these, some players may grow tired of this feature even when they are taking on one ofthe many dragons inSkyrim. Either way, this player’s clip shows off a potentially great moment that was ruined by a tree looking for the spotlight.
