This guide will list all available careers and career branches inThe Sims 4, and let players know the daily tasks assigned to them for each career level. Although this is not a mandatory part of a job, it’s a successful mechanic that can increase job performance much faster.
Updated on July 05, 2025, by Ashely Claudino:Completing daily tasks are a great way for Sims to boost their work performance, and they make it possible for them to get a promotion or a raise much faster. Part-time jobs and active careers don’t have daily tasks, so gamers will have to boost their work performance in another way. This guide has been updated to contain more useful information on part-time and active jobs in The Sims 4.

How To Check Daily Task Progress
If a Sim is looking to get promoted, they’ll want to complete their daily tasks in full. Sims can ignore daily tasks, complete them partially or finish them fully - the more effort they put into them, the bigger the performance boost they’ll get from them.
Players can check their Sim’s daily task progress by opening the Job tab in the lower right corner. Unlike promotion tasks, it’s not mandatory to complete daily tasks to get an extra career level, but they will certainly help a Sim get there faster.

Careers And Their Daily Tasks
InThe Sims 4, there are all sorts of career types, and the more game packs the player has, the more careers they’ll have at their disposal. Career paths range from freelance to optional activities and to classic part-time and full-time jobs. Players can progress through all of these paths and even choose different branches when they get to a certain point in their careers.
Gamers should be sure to complete their daily tasks whenever they have time to do so, as this will help them progress in life much faster.

On top of all of the careers and activities mentioned above, middle school, high school, and university students will be assigned the “do homework” daily task. This task will accompany them throughout a huge part of younger Sims' lives, so it’s definitely important to keep it in mind.
Active Careers
There are only a few active careers inThe Sims 4, and in order to play them, gamers must have access to certain expansion packs. Unlike regular jobs, players can actually go to work with their Sim when they’re in an active career, so getting a promotion works quite differently.
Instead of receiving daily tasks in active careers, players must complete specific promotion tasksrelated to the career missions, and they must finish them as they improve their work performance.
Part-Time Jobs
Part-time jobs are just like active careers, so gamers don’t actually have to complete any daily tasks to boost their work performance. On top of this, even though some levels require the player to level up a certain skill, not all career levels have any promotion tasks besides showing up for work.
