DC’s upcoming sequelShazam! Fury of the Godshas officially completed its post-production, and it looks like director David F. Sandberg is happy for some time to finally relax a bit. The Zachary Levi-led film is slated for release next year, giving audiences a decent few months to speculate before they can finally witness what all that effort has produced.

WhileShazam! Fury of the Godsdid get a trailer over the summer, there was still some work to be done in the months since. Luckily, it appears that the bulk of it has finally been completed, leaving little else but the time before release standing in the way of viewers checking out this highly-anticipated sequel. Sandberg seems to be pretty excited about the milestone, even if a lot of that excitement is more for finally having a break.

Sandberg posted a behind-the-scenes image on his Instagram, showing off a shot ofLevi in his full Shazam outfit. The actor (or perhaps even a CGI version of the actor) is seen floating in front of a lightning bolt while holding the mystical staff that gave him his powers. “Finished!” Sandberg said in the caption. “Now for a little time off. See you in theaters in March!” It doesn’t really give anything away, except for the fact that the film will have a superhero, a staff, and… lightning? But odds are it takes place during a pretty critical moment inShazam! Fury of the Gods.

After the firstShazam!film proved to be a surprise hit with critics and audiences alike, it was only a matter of time before its follow-up came to theaters, so a sequel was all but guaranteed from the get-go.The powerful themes of family inShazam!and how it’s more what people make of it rather than what they’re born into seemed to strike a chord with audiences, helped along by the excellent directing, writing, and acting. So it seems pretty likely that the sequel will further drive home those values.

Along with Levi,Shazam! Fury of the Godsalso stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, a.k.a. the regular teenage version of the titular hero. Djimon Hounsou also returns asThe Wizard named Shazam, who gave the young man his powers. Most of the first film’s cast will also return as the rest of Billy’s now superpowered family, with Grace Fulton now playing both the young and “super” versions of her character Mary Bromfield. The film will also feature a new trio of villains known as the daughters of Atlas. This includesWest Side Story’s Rachel Zegler as Anthea,Elementary’s Luci Liu as Kalypso, and the legendary Dame Helen Mirren as Hespera.

Shazam! Fury of the Godsis only a handful of months away now, and knowing that it’s complete this far in advance should help put some minds at ease. Here’s hoping it ends up just as successful as its predecessor.
