Crytek recently releasedCrysis Remastered, but some fans may be wondering what’s next from the company. While official announcements haven’t been made, an alleged internal document supposedly leaked online, potentially revealing some of the projects that it has in the pipeline. Apparently, this includes a sequel toRyse: Son of Rome, the hack and slash game that was released as anXbox One launch titleall the way back in 2013.
Ryse: Son of Romeearned mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it certainly has its fans as well. Some were critical ofRyse’s gameplay, but there was a great deal of praise heaped on it for its story and visuals, which were cutting-edge in 2013.Ryse’s mixed reception seems to have led to the game earning lower-than-expected sales, withCrytek blaming the low sales of the Xbox One console itself.

SinceRyse: Son of Romewasn’t a big sales success and seven years having passed since its launch, fans have not really expected the company to move forward with a sequel. If the leaked Crytek internal document is legitimate, thenRyse 2may actually be seeing the light of day asRyse Next, though nothing from that document has been confirmed by anyone official at the time of this writing. And unfortunately, beyondRyse 2’s possible existence, there are no other details available for the game.
While there are no additional details aboutRyse 2from the leaked document, it does potentially reveal some of Crytek’s other future plans. If the leaked document is to be believed, Crytek is planning on releasing aCrysisbattle royale game, as well as aCrysisVR game. Crytek has released a number of VR titles in the past, and since the battle royale genre is all the rage right now, these details from the leaked document are especially easy to believe.
Other Crytek projects potentially leaked include a mobile version ofHunt: Showdown, as well as a sequel to Crytek’s VR gameRobinson: The Journey. Similarly toRyse: Son of Rome,Robinson: The Journeydidn’t do so well with critics, so it will be interesting to see if the game ever materializes.
Before anyCrytekfans get too excited about any of these projects, though, it’s entirely possible that the leaked document was faked, or that the information is outdated. It could very well be thatRyse 2and these other games were in development at one point, only for them to be canceled.
Ryse: Son of Romeis out now for PC and Xbox One.
