Although a Pokemon Presents Direct recently took place on August 18, it has been nearly three months since the last properNintendo Direct. That happened on June 15 forE3 2021, and many think another one is coming soon.
Overall, it makes sense, as a lot of small things add up to suggest there will be aNintendo Directevent this coming month. There has been a Direct in September every year since 2016, it has been roughly three months since the latestSuper Smash Bros. UltimateFighter DLC was announced, and Nintendo has quite a few other games releasing in September and October to add to the Direct.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder that Nintendo Direct is already trending on Twitter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem anything is too reliable other than the history of September Directs. Some are claiming the event will take place on September 4 and will indeed feature the finalSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatefighter announcement. Others are claiming it’ll be on September 9 or September 10, while others are just excitedly posting about the possibility of it happening.
Prior to Nintendo Direct trending on Twitter based on this information and no real announcement, there was one rumor back in early August saying aNintendo Direct would happen in September. This rumor was likely based on the same information as above, but it does go a little further. It originally said a Nintendo Direct would happen around the release ofWarioWare(which is September 10) and primarily focus onMetroid Dread, Advance Wars, andMario Party Superstars.
However, because none of this is official and because Nintendo has yet to announce a new Nintendo Direct, fans should take everything discussed here with a healthy grain of salt. Just because history suggests it would happen doesn’t make it an infallible prediction, and this would be far from the first time the internet has gotten worked up over a Nintendo Direct (orSony State of Play, or gaming event period) for it not to come to fruition.
Still, Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to over the next couple of months. Aside from the aforementionedWarioWare Get It Together!, quite a few first- and third-party games are releasing, such asDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Ni No Kuni 2, Darksiders 3, Metroid Dread, Mario Party Superstars, and much more. This means there’s a lot to look forward to on the horizon, whether or not the September Nintendo Direct happens or not.
