Part of the appeal of roguelikes is their punishing nature, depriving the player of their hard-earned progress and forcing them to start new runs over from scratch when they lose. It may seem strange to combine this formula with a family dynasty mechanic, but that’s exactly whatRogue Legacy 2does.

Rogue Legacy 2 - Estuary Enoch Phase 1

Estuary Enoch is one of the most difficult bosses inRogue Legacy 2,thanks in large part to his unpredictability. With multiple attacks, several of which have random trajectories or distances, it can be hard to keep up with everything the scholar of the Stygian Study throws out. With preparation and hard work, he can be beaten. Here’s everything the player needs to know to do it.

How To Prepare For Estuary Enoch

Estuary Enoch lurks within the Stygian Study, and will make quick work of unprepared players. He isone of the game’s most unpredictable bossesand demands precise movement to avoid his attacks, which can make beating it a challenge. To open the door to Enoch’s room, the player must defeat two mini-bosses. These are Void Beast Gongheads and Void Beast Murmur, which can be found in separate rooms within the Study.

Not having a plan for the fight is a common mistake. To prepare for the fight, go to the easternmost room of the Stygian Study and read the memory within. To reach the memory, press the interact button near the cliff and a bridge will appear.Reading the memory grants a +15% damage buff against Enoch, making the boss fight much easier.

Maneuverability and speed are the key to emerging from this battle triumphant. Classes like the Archer and Gunslinger good choices, as are the Duelist and Assassin.

Phase One Of The Estuary Enoch Boss Fight

During the first phase of the fight, Estuary Enoch has six attacks. The first is a charge attack in which he tries to grab the player, which is easy to avoid as long as the player stays away from walls. Enoch’s second attack marks the position the player is standing in and spawns a laser pillar in that area for eight seconds. Move to either edge of the room to avoid it.

When the boss summons small Void Orbs, wait for them to converge and then dash through them to avoid the attack. The boss’s fourth attack fires flame projectiles in all directions. Be wary, because the attack concludes with a wave of Void projectiles that the player can dash through.

His fifth attack summons large explosions around the room that can damage the player and spawn Curse projectiles. Destroy these projectiles with an attack, Spin Kick, ora useful talent. In Enoch’s final attack during this phase, he triggers an explosion around himself, and fires a wave of flaming projectiles at the player.

The best time to attack Enoch is between his attacks, dashing to escape before his next attack begins. The Wind Wall spell is particularly helpfulduring the battle because it can destroy any of the boss’s projectiles. After falling to 50% HP, Estuary Enoch will summon four Void orbs that orbit him. The player can dash through these.

Defeating Enoch causes a fake chest to appear. This starts the next phase of the fight.

Phase Two Of The Estuary Enoch Boss Fight

True Estuary Enoch has three attacks. For the first attack, Enoch spits explosive bottles in an arc from his mouth. Maintain distance from him. This is one of the boss’s most dangerous attacksbecause the bottle trajectories are random and difficult to avoid. When Enoch is spitting bottles, concentrate on evasion rather than doing damage.

For his second attack, Enoch runs around dropping poison coins. To avoid them, use either jumps and dashes or attacks that juggle the character in the air (such as the Archer’s arrows) to remain in the air until the coins disappear.

For his final attack, Enoch jumps around the room. The size of his hops vary, so it’s important to remain vigilant and always be ready to move. If Enoch pushes the player back against a wall, dashing under him when he does a large jump can get the player to safety and open the boss up tothe player’s weaponfor attack.
