While wild rumors have been circulating online for several years, it appears that series developer Rockstar Games may finally be ready to unveil the first look at the nextGTAtitle,Grand Theft Auto 6.

Rockstar’s most current entry in its long-runningGrand Theft Autoseries,Grand Theft Auto 5,continues to do well despite releasing two console generations ago in 2013. In fact, the game is doing so well thatGrand Theft Auto 5just passed an insane sales milestone, with the title having its best year since launch in 2020. Many fans see the sustained success as the primary reason the gap between the fifth and sixth entries has been as long as it has.

The theoreticalGrand Theft Auto 6job listing making headlines comes directly from Rockstar’s careers page, with the position being titled, “Cinematic Gameplay Capture Artist.” According to the job description, the company is seeking an artist to assist on a range of projects, primarily with shooting in-game footage for use in multimedia campaigns. The process is described as using internal video capture tools in a virtual 3D environment. This could be somewhat likeGrand Theft Auto 5’s Director Mode, which sounds like it uses similar processes. The role requirements also call for a “World-class player” of current platform video game titles.

While the most recentGrand Theft Auto 6leak is almost certainly fake, the fact that Rockstar is looking for this type of position may finally mean some actual, official content will soon be revealed. The latter requirement of a world-class player is particularly tantalizing, as the only other confirmed games Rockstar is working on is theGTA 5remaster for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Not to mention that the remaster already has an extensive trailer out. However, there are otherGTAtitles that are rumored to have remasters in the works.

On a recent investor call, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive (the parent company of Rockstar), Strauss Zelnick, was asked about potentialGrand Theft Autoremastersfor some of the franchises older titles. While not really answering directly, he said the question was “great and encouraging,” which lends itself to the idea that something may happen down the line, and the job listing could be for said remasters. However, nothing is confirmed, and the ongoing success ofGTA 5andGrand Theft Auto Onlinecould mean potential remasters and/orGrand Theft Auto 6are still a ways away.

While this latest tidbit of a development could signal the start of something big, fans have long learned to take anything regarding the highly-anticipated sequel with a grain of salt. Fortunately though, there’s still plenty of ongoing support for the most currentGTAwhile players wait for the next Rockstar announcement. Right now players can take advantage ofGrand Theft Auto Onlineoffering special bonuses for Valentine’s Day, especially if terrorizing the streets of Los Santos is a gamer’s idea of romantic.
