The hotly anticipatedResident Evil 8is still quite the mystery to players, with many excited to see where the series will go after the return to form in 2017’sResident Evil 7. While some information has been confirmed, or leaked, such as the possibility ofEthan returning as the protagonist, not much is known about who will be the villain for the latest game in the series.
Many of the previous series villains are already gone, with the death of characters like Albert Wesker and the newly introduced Evelyn fromResident Evil 7,so there aren’t a lot of potential return villains forResident Evil 8, especially with Umbrella taking a new position in the fight against the zombie outbreak alongsideChris Redfield.

According to leaker AestheticGamer on Twitter,Resident Evil 8will have more than one villain, including an unconfirmed mentioning of someone named Alan. This came in response to another Twitter user asking about a rumor that has been spreading, implying that a villain fromResident Evil 4will be returning for the new game. While there was little to be said about the returning character, there are a number ofpotential returning characters from the serieswho could come back forResident Evil 8, both hero’s and villains, as the series often leaves deaths of main characters ambiguous.
Multiple villains wouldn’t be new to theResident Evilseries, seeing as how the original game revealedWeskerto be a secret villain andResident Evil 2had two villains in the form of Mr. X and Dr. Birkin. Even theResident Evil 3Remaketook the time to focus on the secondary human villain Nicholai, of course with his fate being left ambiguous in classicResident Evilstyle. So it wouldn’t be unprecedented for there to be more than one villain inResident Evil 8, as the series often pits the player against conflicting powers trying to use Umbrella’s bio-weapons for their own gain.
It should be noted that at this moment, the state ofResident Evil 8’s villains is still fairly up in the air, as even AestheticGamer is hesitant to confirm any information being leaked. While multiple villains wouldn’t be much of a surprise for game, this is apparently still changing as development moves forward. With any luck, Capcom will officially release some more information to keep players satiated as they wind down fromResident Evil 3and prepare for what promises to be thegoriest game in the series.
Resident Evil 8is rumored to be in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
