Now over a month removed from its release,Pokemon Legends: Arceushas steadily died down in the news. However, that does not mean it is not still insanely popular; between smashing previousPokemonsales records and reinventing the way thatPokemongames are played,Pokemon Legends: Arceusis as innovative as it is successful.

However, like many other open-world games,Pokemon Legends: Arceusis no stranger to glitches, bugs, and other problems. Though some of these can pose problems for players, others are completely harmless and funny, such as thePokemon Legends: Arceusflying Growlithe glitch. These types of glitches can make for a unique experience, as ones that err on the side of ridiculous tend to also be hilarious.

Recently, a player discovered another glitch in the game. Luckily, much like thealpha Garchomp glitch inPokemon Legends: Arceus, the glitch seems to be harmless and, in this case, funny issue that causes a Pokemon to become stuck in a tree’s trunk. This prompted Reddit user Emo_-_kat to capture a clip of the glitch because it makes it look as though their Garchomp is fighting a tree.

The clip captures the moment that Emo_-_kat discovers the glitch. For some reason, Emo_-_kat decided to throw a Pokeball at a tree trunk, which then triggers a fight. Unfortunately for the tree, its opponent is a huge Garchomp sporting some of the most powerful moves the Pokemon can learn. Settling on Earth Power, which one could imagine easily uprooting the tree opponent, Emo_-_kat’s Garchomp ends the battle in one hit, revealing the true opponent was a Croagunk assumably glitched into the tree’s trunk. Like thesocially awkward Spheal inPokemon Legends: Arceus, it seems the poor Croagunk simply wanted to hide, but instead had a run-in with a menacing monster of a Pokemon.

Other Reddit users loved the video, deciding to crack jokes about the tree and the poor Croagunk trapped in it. Many users stated that Emo_-_kat had launched an attack on Mother Nature, referencing the attempted uprooting of the tree using Earth Power. Other users made jokes about how the tree must have been a Sudowoodo due to it taking super effective damage from a ground attack (Sudowoodo is a rock Pokemon disguised as a tree). Another user had an epiphany, claiming that this must be how Trevenants are born; this is a reference to Trevenant being a haunted tree.

This glitch is the perfect example of a funny, random open-world glitch that often occurs in the genre. In the future, Croagunk may want to pick a better hiding spot, or perhaps they could up their defenses like thePokemon with the highest defense inPokemon Legends: Arceus.

Pokemon Legends: Arceusis available now on Nintendo Switch.
