Reddit user ConsiderationJust567 made a popular post on thePokemon GOcommunity recently about the event Pokemon maintaining their challenging default catch rates. A big promotional point ofthePokemon GO7th-anniversary eventis the abundance of starters. Every day of the anniversary event, a different set of starters appears far more frequently, beginning with Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on the first day and ending with Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio on the last day. This should make the 7th-anniversary a wonderful opportunity for players who don’t have the final forms of any of the starters through thePokemon Sun and Moongeneration to acquire them, but the escape rates on these starters are leaving a lot of players disgruntled.

AnyPokemon GOplayers may notice a dark red circlewhen trying to catch a Chimchar or a Chikorita. The starters are supposed to be rare, and thus not particularly easy to catch. This is mainly a problem for players because, as the anniversary takes place, very few other Pokemon appear other than the starters, which can be a massive drain on resources like Pokeballs and Razz Berries when having to use potentially multiple for each catch. This has led to players posting complaints on majorPokemon GOmessageboards.

It would have been nice to see Niantic lower the difficulty of catching these starters on top of making them more abundant during the week of this event, but the company doesn’t seem to be listening to thePokemon GOcommunitymuch as of late. Considering the event is already halfway over, it’s unlikely that the community will see this happen. With this in mind, players looking to preserve their Ultra Balls may just need to lay low until the event has passed and the spawns of regular Pokemon resume.
