Summary

One talentedPokemonfan artist put together their own vision of what a third evolution for the Cacnea family might look like, along with what signature moves it would use. With the latest entries to thePokemonfranchise introducing a variety of completely new Pokemon forms and their more recently releasedThe Teal MaskDLC bringing in new evolutions for existing favorites, plenty of fans have been motivated to bring some of their own designs to life.

Cacnea is one example of aPokemon with only one evolved form, Cacturne. While every Pokemon can be trained to a viable level of strength, Cacturne seems to have never enjoyed a level of popularity rivaling some of the other Pokemon introduced in the Gen 3 games, largely due to these other Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Salamence, or Aggron typically boasting much greater levels of strength as well as designs which appeal broadly to fans. A few fans have been entertaining the idea of a third evolution for the Cacnea family for some time now, and while it certainly isn’t the first time fans have created their own Pokemon evolution, a new evolution for Cacturne would seem to have a lot of potential.

As it happens, one creative member of thePokemoncommunityhas come up with an incredibly detailed design for a Cacturne evolution of their very own. Created by a fan known as EliDwebster and shared in a post on Reddit, the fan-made Pokemon named Cactlinger is a Grass and Dark-type evolution to Cacturne which features some impressive stats, and is even complete with an alternate form and signature moves to match. Alongside its standard form, this Pokemon has a special form named “The Skullface Kid” which is heavily inspired by various pieces of Mexican culture, with this form giving the Pokemon not only a new appearance but also a new ability known as Soul Hunter and a new signature move, Flora Calaca.

A great amount of detail has clearly been put not only into this custom Pokemon’s various designs, but also its unique moves, abilities, and overall functionality in battle. Fans interested in the details can find in-depth descriptions in the original post which describe how these moves andabilities would have an effect in Pokemon battles. The creator also shared shiny variations for both the Pokemon’s standard form as well as its Skullface Kid form.

Plenty of like-mindedPokemonfans have designed similar custom evolutions for some of their own favorite creatures, and withPokemon Scarlet and Violetbreathing new lifeinto several existing Pokemon, many are holding out hope that certain Pokemon could yet receive similar treatments in future titles. With a release date now revealed for the second half ofScarlet and Violet’s DLC, fans will have to wait and see what new Pokemon might arrive inThe Indigo Disk.
