Countless examples ofPokemonfan art have been created since the series started withPokemon Red and Bluein 1996, and a recent one imagines Togepi as a human character. Because there are a fewPokemonthat resemble humans in the original Pokedex, the idea of turning existing entries into humanoids goes back almost to the origin of fan art based on the franchise, with Togepi being the latest conception.
Togepi was introduced to thePokemonseries with the release ofPokemon Gold and Silver, but the anime teased the Pokedex entry a lot sooner.Pokemonfans first saw the then-Normal-type Pokemonin the anime episode called “Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon,” in which Misty earned ownership of Togepi. While Togepi became synonymous with Misty in thePokemonanime,Pokemon Gold and Silverplayers all received it as an egg from Professor Elm, and this fan has a different take on how the Pokemon should look after hatching.

Reddit user Endifi shared aPokemonfan art mere hours ago focusing on Togepi and its evolution Togetic, both imagined as human characters that resemblePokemonGym leaders. The much smaller Togepi gets a crown atop its head that retains the shape of the Gen 2 Pokemon, with a baggy robe that maintains the pattern on the protective eggshell surrounding Togepi. Beyond the round shape created by the baggy robes, Endifi’s fan art also shows Togepi holding a tall blue staff that’s topped with an egg wearing an almost identical crown to the one adorning the head of the human version of the Pokemon.
Like when Togepi evolves inthePokemonanimeand video games, Endifi’s fan art emphasizes the height that Togetic gains upon earning enough friendship stat with its Pokemontrainer. The baggy clothes are more form-fitting to the humanoid Togetic who has the same shell pattern underneath long wings of fabric extending to either side of the different take on the Gen 2 Pokemon. Unlike the actual Pokemon, this Togetic has one red and one blue foot that match the shell pattern colors, while the staff has been altered to incorporate these colors and the smaller crown atop the human’s head.
Because Endifi only shared twoPokemonfan art images, they leftGen 4 PokemonTogekiss completely untouched despite the fact that it’s another evolution in the Togepi line. Although Togepi has been in thePokemonfranchise sincePokemon Gold and Silver, it has yet to receive a regional variant, Mega Evolution, or Gigantimax form, making the forms highlighted by Endifi the only ones beyond the evolution that’s been left out.
