A gamer has shown exactly what happens to players who decide to stroke a dragon inSkyrim VR. Dragons are certainly among themost dangerous animals inSkyrim, and getting up close and personal is definitely not recommended.
Ever since it was first released in 2017,Skyrim VRhasn’t had the props it deserved from the gaming community. It was a AAA release on a platform that only a minority of gamers had access to, and Bethesda deserves credit for the attempt to push the technology further. Unfortunately, the game itself wasn’t perfect, with plenty of performance issues that showed exactly why it was still a new technology, even to developers. Just like the base game, there are mods that help withSkyrim VR’s performance, so hopefully more gamers return to the game when VR becomes more readily available in the future.

The clip was posted to Reddit by user Hoebaforboba3, who decided to grab onto Paarthurnax atop the Throat of the World. On the highest point in the game, it could definitely be a recipe for disaster, even if Paarthurnax is one ofSkyrim’s few friendly dragons. As they tug aggressively at the dragon, his reaction isn’t what most players might expect. Rather than react aggressively, Paarthurnax barely reacts and continues to speak to the Dragonborn as if nothing is happening. It’s almost anticlimactic, yet it’s completely in character for Paarthurnax.
Since its release, there has been no shortage of player antics inSkyrim VR. One player released a videoshowing just how chaoticSkyrim VRcan be. It’s interesting to see how players are taking familiar sandboxes, and making them new once again. It opens up a whole new element of play, where gamers are able to undertake completely different challenges in what is almost a different medium entirely. It will be interesting to see the absurd things that players attempt withSkyrimVRin the future.
The increasing accessibility of VR is extremely exciting for the future of gaming. Therecent release of PSVR2is a big step forward in making the technology mainstream, with it being previously restricted to high-end PC gamers. The next hurdle for the technology is having AAA developers create games for it to push sales of the hardware.Half-Life Alyxis an incredible example of a game that could push gamers towards VR in the years to come, and perhaps Bethesda can make its own contribution to the space by ensuringStarfieldis released on VR platforms one day.
