Due to the ports ofPersona 5 Royalacross multiple platforms, Atlus’Personafranchise has crossed a brand-new impressive sales milestone. ThePersonaserieshas been a hit for Atlus in the past few years, withPersona 5in particular cementing itself as a modern JRPG classic. This has resulted in the game not only getting spin-offs, an expanded re-release, and more recently, a multiplatform release ofPersona 5 Royalafter many vocal requests. WhileP5Rwas the first to be ported onto current platforms, previous entriesPersona 3 PortableandPersona 4 Goldenare also set to launch next year as well.WithPersona 5 Royalbeing such a success, it was reported on by its parent company Sega in a financial report of the previous year. The report covered everything that was released between March 2021 and ending with March 2022, so the multiplatform releases ofP5Rwere not counted here. Regardless, this report covered a number of financial statistics about its IPs, including thePersonaseries. More importantly, thePersona 5subseries of games have contributed to this big number. This includes the original game along with its various offshootsPersona 5: Dancing in Starlight,Persona 5 Royal, andPersona 5 Strikers. The report notes that 7.22 million units of this subseries had been sold worldwide, which make up almost half of the total series sales. Not only that, approximately 77% if these sales were from gamers overseas.
Within this fiscal year,Persona 5 Strikershad managed to sell 1.3 million copies as of August 04, 2025, with the Steam version ofPersona 4 Goldenselling over a million copies as well. The report also indicated other milestones that the company had reached with its IPs.Shin Megami Tensei 5’s milestone successhad been reported as well, noting that it had achieved over one million copies worldwide, alongside other spin-offs likeShin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2.
According to Sega President and CEO Haruki Satomi, the company is looking to surpass the next fiscal year with a few key strategies. This includes simultaneous global and multiplatform releases, as their successes withPersonaandLike a Dragonhad caused a substantial amount of global sales growth. Not only that, Atlus will be looking to expand its global fanbase by remastering pastPersonatitles and other multiplatform releases, which includes the recently released port ofP5Rand the upcoming ports ofP3PandP4G.
