Overwatchfans have created a ton of art based on the hero-shooter since before its launch, and there doesn’t seem to be an end to their creativity. NewOverwatchfan art is released on a daily basis, consisting of everything from paintings to cosplays and now evenPokemoncards featuringOverwatchcharacters.
Reddit user CynicismNostalgia has created anOverwatch/Pokemoncrossover card that is styled after thePokemonGX cards, featuring thetank hero Wrecking Ball. The Wrecking Ball GX card has a formidable 230 HP, along with two attacks: Rollout and Swinging Piledriver GX. The card also takes into account Wrecking Ball’s Adaptive Shield, relegating it to the Wrecking Ball card’s ability slot.

This card is rather impressive and looks like a genuinePokemoncard. It would be cool to see an official release of these, though fans shouldn’t hold their breath. Even though Blizzard and Nintendo seem to have developed a strong relationship recently, what with theOverwatchSwitch portand Switch versions of Blizzard games having exclusive Nintendo content,OverwatchPokemoncards seem highly unlikely.
In the meantime, it’s interesting that CynicismNostalgia chose Wrecking Ball as the subject of their fan madeOverwatchPokemoncard. Wrecking Ball seems to be a common choice when it comes to which character make fan art for, with one other recent example coming to mind being the popular Wrecking Ball Snow Globe skin concept.
For the uninitiated, a fan made their own concept of aWrecking Ball Christmas skinthat was based on a slow globe. The ambitious Wrecking Ball Snow Globe skin would swap Hammond’s ball with a see-through snow globe, complete with decorations and falling snow inside. The logistics of adding such a complex skin to the game means that we will likely never see an official version of it, but it was still a really clever idea and gained a lot of attention online.
Similarly, this Wrecking BallPokemoncard has also gotten a lot of attention, currently sitting at well over 11,000 upvotes on Reddit at the time of this writing. It’s a bit disappointing that most people won’t be able to get their hands on one, but maybeBlizzardwill introduce anOverwatchtrading card game of its own at some point down the line.
Overwatchis out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
