Overwatch 2has officially revealed its brand-new Portugal map, Esperanca.Overwatchmaps have featured a nice variety of areas all over the world, and now Portugal will be joining the list of locations fans can visit in Blizzard’s hero-shooter.

TheOverwatch 2Portugal map is another Push map, representing the brand-new game mode debuting in the sequel.Overwatch 2’s Push modehas players fighting to take control of a robot, with the goal of moving the robot as close to the enemy team’s spawn point as possible. It works like a game of tug-of-war, and as was seen in the beta, it can lead to some rather interesting combat scenarios compared to modes with static objectives.

Like otherOverwatch 2maps set in real-world locations, a great deal of care has been put into the game’s representation of Portugal. Blizzard even went as far as to send theOverwatch 2sound team to Portugal itself to record background audio that can be heard in the map.

Overwatch 2’s Esperanca map is the third to feature Push. The previously-revealedOverwatch 2maps based on Toronto and Rome(New Queen Street and Colosseo, respectively) are also Push maps, and it’s quite likely that more will be introduced eventually.

Besides highlightingOverwatch 2’s Esperanca map, the team at Blizzard also discussed some of the maps that will no longer be featured in the new game. Thanks to community feedback, Blizzard is removing 2CP maps fromOverwatch 2’s Quick Play and Competitive queues. The maps will still be usable inOverwatch 2custom games, but will otherwise be missing from rotation.

According to Blizzard, these maps will potentially make comebacks in futureOverwatch 2updates. It’s possible that elements from these maps will be used to build new maps with similar aesthetics, even if they aren’t the exact same. So whileOverwatch 2may never see maps like Hanamura orTemple of Anubisappear in the Quick Play and Competitive queues, it seems fans can expect similar maps to show up at some point down the line.

Some fans may besad to see the 2CP maps go, but others will be happy that they are being removed. In any case,Overwatch 2will have a nice selection of new maps when it launches next month.

Overwatch 2launches in early access on October 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox One.
