Following the launch of the firstOverwatch 2beta, the series has gotten a second wind, with many fans getting interested in the hero shooter once again. As such, new community memes have been getting spread, with the latest trend seeingOverwatch 2fans talking about the grim subject of death.
For the record, it is unlikely that anyOverwatch 2heroes will diein the upcoming game’s PvE mode. While there are a few possibilities from a lore standpoint, such as Reinhardt dying since he has trained a successor in Brigitte, the characters play very different in PvP. Blizzard is unlikely to take away the roles these characters play, as many gamers only use heroes like Reinhardt. Further, killing off a character would mean losing all the skins fans have unlocked for them since 2016, making their death and removal from the roster doubtful.

Still, the topic is interesting, and it has inspired a new tier list meme within the hero shooter’s community. While fan’s have seen plenty offunnyOverwatchtier lists, two of the most recent ones focus entirely on the potential deaths of the game’s heroes. The first list comes courtesy of Reddit user Xfaxk123, and it spans a number of different categories. With over 2,000 upvotes for the post, many clearly got a kick out of the Redditor’s predictions.
Many characters are seen in the “experiment gone wrong category,” and with intelligent minds like Symmetra and Winston always pushing to make advancements, this is a solid prediction. Sombra joins all the omnics in the “malfunction” category, while “health problems” are a believable way for Cassidy and Roadhog to pass on.Reinhardt and Zaryadying to a large animal is funny but fitting, while Ashe and Reaper picking a fight they could not win checks out. Lucio and Tracer living a long and happy life is also fair, and the list ends with a funny joke about Wrecking Ball and short hamster life spans.
Another list comes courtesy of Reddit user fantastic_sounds, and it highlights ways that the hero roster could die inOverwatch 2’s PvE campaignspecifically. Soldier 76 suits the heroic sacrifice category, while Doomfist being a bad guy instantly opens him up to death. Zenyatta or Mercy dying would be surprising, but their deaths could add “dramatic effect”, while a “probably will live” section is comprised of Genji, Sombra, and a few other heroes. Finally, the “no way they’re killing this character” lineup includes figures like Tracer, which makes sense since she’s the series’ mascot.
With this second list of deaths also bringing in over 2,000 upvotes, it will be interesting to see if similar posts continue to be made. Clearly, some fans are curious about whichOverwatchheroes(if any) will die as the series continues.
