In September of 2018, Nintendo Switch owners were introduced to theNintendo Switch Online Service. This service was a first for Nintendo, charging players $20 per year to play online competitivelyin games likeSplatoon 2and cooperatively in games likeAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. While many players have adopted this subscription, it seems that Nintendo is hoping to entice even more with a new free trial.
From now until August 06, 2025, Switch players can jump into a one week free trial for theNintendo Switch Online Service. To give the service a try, players will need to make their way to the My Nintendo Rewards page on Nintendo’s site. There they will be able to redeem the offer for 0 Platinum Points. It’s worth noting that this free trial is only available for players without a current membership, so those that have an active subscription are out of luck on this offer.

While the Nintendo Switch Online Service is certainly aimed at players looking to take on competition online, there are still incentives to try out the service for players that are only interested in single-player games.
