Living In The Shadow Of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
WhileNickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s confirmed roster list seems like a nice homage to the cartoon producer, the game will face some challenges considering its comparisons toSuper Smash Bros. One of the biggest potential issues could come from the roster’s size. Ever sinceSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatebrought party-fighting game rosters close to the triple digits, some gamers have come to expect a wealth of options for who they can play as. WhileNickelodeon All-Star Brawldoes have some surprising features thatUltimatedoesn’t, some gamers might get tired of a paltry roster sooner rather than later.
The Potential Of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s Roster
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s confirmed list of characters is certainly something to get excited about, but there’s also potential for so many other characters to make an appearance. The game has over twenty years of Nickelodeon history to draw on, and there are dozens ofNickelodeon characters that could still show up. Some fans are already pointing out some surprising omissions from the first trailer, such as Timmy Turner fromFairly OddParents, and Jenny Wakeman fromMy Life as a Teenage Robot. While it’s entirely possible that more characters like these could be revealed in the future, it would be a shame if that potential wasn’t fully realized.
It’s a rare thing when a cartoon-based video game gets as much buzz asNickelodeon All-Star Brawlhas thus far. While they can often be seen as mediocre tie-ins similar to the comic book film tie-ins from years ago, Nickelodeon has shown a surprising amount of consistency with the quality of its games. Developers Ludosity and Fair Play Lab already look like they’ve done a great job at recreating some ofNickelodeon’s most beloved characters, so now it will just be a matter of sticking the landing with the game’s release.
