Summary
Mortal Kombat 1delivered one of the best fighting game experiences in recent memory, and maybe even one of the best entries in its franchise’s entire history. With a greater emphasis on story,Mortal Kombat 1’s rebooted universewas actually home to an array of fun new ideas, and with arguably the tightest fighting mechanics in the series,Mortal Kombat 1easily manages to stand out from the crowd. But there’s oneMortal Kombat 1feature that’s still proving to be a tad divisive among fans, and that’s its Kameo system.
From the momentMortal Kombat 1’s Kameoswere first announced, fans were split down the middle. On one hand, the idea of assist fighters made complete sense forMortal Kombat 1, and allowed NetherRealm to include another set of characters that wouldn’t otherwise fit on the game’s normal roster. But on the other hand, Kameos are forced into everyMortal Kombat 1match, and those who would prefer just a standard 1v1 are completely out of luck. But while Kameos will no doubt continue to be divisive throughoutMortal Kombat 1’s lifetime, they could see a new, more suitable life inside a potentialInjustice 3, where DC fans could finally see a long-awaited dream come to fruition: superhero teams.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Kameo System Could Pave the Way for Some Exciting Injustice 3 Duos
MK1’s Kameos Would Finally Let the Dynamic Duo Take Center Stage in Injustice 3
Despite being the world-famous Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin have rarely been a focus of Batman’s many video games, especially not in recent years. While Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood all appear intheBatman: Arkhamseries, they don’t often play a huge role in the story, aside from the latter. The same can be said for NetherRealm’s ownInjusticeseries. While Nightwing appears in the first game, he’s killed off-screen by the time of the second one, with Damian Wayne having accidentally caused his death. And while Damian plays an important role at the start ofInjustice 2, he’s only seen a few times throughout the game.
A potentialInjustice 3would be the perfect place for Batman and Robin reunion to take center stage, andMortal Kombat 1’s Kameo system could take it all to the next level. The last time Robin is seen inInjustice 2is when Supergirl defeats him following her turn against the Regime. Presumably, Damian is still locked away somewhere, and the emotional trauma between him and Batman could make for an interesting plotline inInjustice 3, with a Kameo system allowing the Dynamic Duo to fight together for the first time in a while.
But that’s far from the only team-up thatInjustice 3should have. With aMortal Kombat 1Kameo system in place,Injustice 3could feature an array of exciting superhero and villain mash-ups. There could be classic hero team-ups such as members of the Justice League or Teen Titans working together. Or there could beDC hero and villain team-ups, like Batman and Joker, Superman and Lex Luthor, or Green Lantern and Sinestro.
This would also pave the way for some really out-there character combinations, really mixing and matchingthe entire DC universe. For instance, players could join together Batman and Cheetah, or Wonder Woman and Captain Cold, or Flash and Deathstroke. What would really take this Kameo experience to the next level would be the inclusion of unique voicelines at the start of a match between the main fighter and Kameo character, incentivizing fans to try every combination they can think of.
