Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ roster is now a little bit more bombastic with the arrival of Deadpool. The Merc with a Mouth is the first post-launch DLC character to launch as part ofMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ Season Pass, which is also available for fans who purchase the Legendary edition of the game.Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Deadpool is voiced by Nolan North, and fans will be able to see him interact with the Hunter and other characters as they develop a friendship with him and progress his story missions.
Continuing a comprehensive thread of previous gameplay showcases, YouTuber Christopher Odd has returned for the latest gameplay deep-dive sinceMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ Hulk. It is likely that Odd will also offer gameplay deep-dives for Venom, Morbius, and Storm when they too arrive as playable characters inMarvel’s Midnight Suns, but in the meantime Deadpool is a fairly straightforward and high single-target damage-dealing character that players will surely want on their three-party teams.

Deadpool is Centered Around the En Fuego Mechanic
Odd explains Deadpool’s unique En Fuego mechanic, which harnesses the power of each KO that Deadpool is able to dish out. En Fuego is represented as an incremental meter below his health and block in the bottom-left corner of the screen, similar toGhost Rider’s Souls meteror Captain Marvel’s Binary meter.
This meter fills with each KO, but it also depletes if he takes damage, making him highly effective as long as other characters on the battlefield are able to Taunt enemies and clear Deadpool’s path. En Fuego eventually stacks to give Deadpool an incredible damage output on a lot of his card abilities, such as the attack card Death From Above. This is a simple ability that deals a ton of damage, but it will only be as effective as players make it through En Fuego stacks.

The upgrade for Death From Above sees a damage increase per En Fuego stack, with a late-game mod also giving it the ability to apply one Weak. Other applications of En Fuego are seen throughout his card deck, such asDeadpool’s Legendary heroic card Burning Sensation, which doubles damage per En Fuego stack.
Deadpool’s Passive Ability Honors His Healing Factor
Like Wolverine, Deadpool was also a Weapon X experiment and possesses a regenerative healing factor, though Deadpool is left horribly scarred. This is reflected in Deadpool’s passive ability inMarvel’s Midnight Sunscalled Staying Alive, which replenishes his health by a predetermined amount each turn, as well as an additional amount of health for each En Fuego players have maintained.
This is a great passive ability to invest in because it allows players tohear more of Deadpool’s witty dialogue at the Abbey. However, it will also keep him at a decent health range if he is being targeted, and upon upgrade it will reward players with even more health if they are able to avoid taking damage with Deadpool.

Deadpool’s Taunt is Overpowered in the Right Hands
Deadpool’s skill card ‘Hey #^*face!’ seems a little out of place forthe character’s tactical approach inMarvel’s Midnight Sunsbecause it Taunts a target, but it has an interesting application in combat. For each En Fuego stack, Deadpool gains one Resist when using ‘Hey #^*face!’ This effectively means that Deadpool could have enough Resist to avoid damage from the next several attacks, which would then also keep his En Fuego stacks high.
On upgrade, players gain a Resist naturally when using ‘Hey #^*face!’ without needing to have an En Fuego stack to begin with, and a late-game mod that Odd shows off will also draw a Deadpool card. If fans can play ‘Hey #^*face!’ early into the match with as many En Fuego stacks as possible, Deadpool might simply be unstoppable on the battlefield for the next handful of turns.
Marvel’s Midnight Sunsis available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
