As a consolation to fans who have already invested in the game, all cosmetic items will be made available completely free of charge, and theMarvel’s Avengersservers will remain online for the foreseeable future.
The final update patch forMarvel’s Avengerswill launch on March 31, and it will turn off the cosmetic Marketplace and convert all Credit balances into other in-game resources in preparation for the final delisting. Additionally, players will be able to unlocka free Iron Man skinthat bears a striking resemblance to his fellow Avenger War Machine - as long as they have earned at least one achievement or trophy before April 1. Earlier this week, the officialMarvel’s AvengersTwitter account announced that a new Thor skin will be made available to all players free of charge whenUpdate 2.8 goes liveon March 31. Dubbed the “1,000,000 B.C. Outfit,” this ancient uniform was worn by Thor’s father Odin in the pages of last year’sAvengers 1,000,000 BC- which featured a prehistoric team of Avengers chosen by the Phoenix Force to battle the Dark Celestial Zgreb the Aspirant during the early days of humanity.
As mentioned before, this final free character skin will be a bittersweet consolation for fans ofMarvel’s Avengers. Despite initial excitement at the idea of controlling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a team-based action adventure, players quickly soured onMarvel’s Avengersdue to its controversial live-service modelamong other issues large and small. EvenMarvel’s Avengerssupport developers have apologized for the game’s troubled production, which served as an unfortunate omen of the game’s troubled shelf life and eventual delisting.

While Odin’s appearance inAvengers 1,000,000 BCmarked the genesis of Marvel’s flagship superhero team, his designatedMarvel’s Avengerscostume will ironically herald the end of a long-troubled comic-based title.
