A fortunateGod of Warfan discovered a rare piece of merchandise for the award-winning franchise at a yard sale. And the price that this merch was purchased for would put a smile on the face of anyGod of Warfan.
In the world of video games, it’s hard to find a protagonist more prolific thanKratos from theGod of Warseries. Born in the Greek city of Sparta, Kratos is half god, and half mortal, with a rich backstory marked by violence and tragedy. Kratos made his debut in 2005’sGod of Waron the PlayStation 2, and ever since then, players have gone on a journey with the character, watching him slay gods with enchanted weapons and his bare hands. In the modern-dayGod of Wargames, the life of Kratos is still a tragic one but leans more toward the theme of redemption than revenge.

While browsing through a yard sale, Reddit user GundamEnthusiast found aKratos action figure fromGod of War 2, back when the character was in his prime years. Not only that but the highly detailed figure had a price tag of only one dollar. GundamEnthsiast went on to explain that the figure was missing a blade, but it’s still a great find regardless. A sealed version of this figure typically goes for around $70 on eBay.
The heading for the Reddit post mentions that the original poster rescued the figure out of the blazing sun, which may lead some people to believe that the darker complexion of the plastic is due to heat. But actually, the skin color is supposed to look like that, as this version of Kratos is based on an unlockable skinfromGod of War 2, called the Dark Odyssey Skin. Players can unlock this version of Kratos by beatingGod of War 2on God Mode. The Dark Odyssey skin not only changes the look of Kratos but also increases his power.
The action figure that GundamEnthusiast found is part of NECA’sGod of Warline of figures and was released in 2008. This line also included the “Poseidon’s Rage” version of Kratos fromGod of War 2and the “Ultimate” version of Kratos fromGod of War 3. NECA’s most recent addition to this collection isKratos fromGod of War (2018). There are no official plans for aGod of War Ragnarokversion of Kratos for the line at this time, but fans of the series have expressed plenty of interest in it.
