Three ofFortnite’s newest modes,LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival, have received major updates that add new features and ways to play. Thanks to new modes and updates like these,Fortniteremains healthier than ever.
Over the span of November,Fortnitebroke its record for total playerswithin a month by reaching a whopping 100 million users. This milestone came on the heels ofFortnite’s Season OG update, which proved to be a huge hit with the fan base. Going into the future, it’s clear that Epic Games has every intention of maintainingFortnite’s popularity, which just received a substantial new update.
Battle Royale fans will have to wait a little longer until they receive their next update, butLEGO Fortnite has just received a big one, called the Gone Fishin' update. The game now has its own fishing mini-game, which requires players to craft a Fishing Rod to catch various types of fish, each of which has a Legendary version that can be caught. When fishing, available fish types are based on the water, weather, time of day, and whatLEGO Fortnite biomethe user is in.Fortnitefishermen can also use new items like the Food Processor or Bait Bucket to get more bang for their buck.LEGO Fortnite’s newest update also adds two new tools in the Spyglass and Compass, which can be crafted to see further and access new navigation tools. Additional changes include new villager options, charms, LEGO-style outfits, gameplay improvements, and bug fixes.
Fortnite’s Rocket Racing has also received a substantial update, which adds a new mode called Speed Run. This mode sees players battle against the clock instead of other users by trying to set the fastest possible lap time. Player collision is turned off in this mode. Each Speed Run game lasts several minutes, giving users time to complete multiple laps and perfect their approach. The update also adds a new option toRocket Racing’s lineup of car bodies. Players can now equip the Diestro Car Body by purchasing it in the Shop. Additionally, Rocket Racing now has season leaderboards and friend leaderboards so that users can measure themselves against the competition.
Last but not least, Fortnite Festival has released its Season 2 update. A previousFortnite Festival reveal made it clear that Lady Gagaplays a central role in Season 2. The new Festival Pass is centered around her, in which users can unlock Lady Gaga tracks, skins, and more. The fresh update also adds three new Jam Tracks that can be unlocked for free in 8-Bit Beat, Bloom, and Best Buds, which were previouslyFortnitelobby tracks. If players purchase Season 2’s premium reward track, they can unlock Ride Wit Me by Nelly, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, Breaking Me by Topic, and Poker Face by Lady Gaga, in addition to more items.

Ready to start catching Floppers? Just follow these tips and you’ll be reel good in no time:
CRAFT A FISHING ROD
You gotta have the right gear to get started, so let’s start with aFishing Rod! There are four rarities you’re able to craft. You’re more likely to pull in your catch with a higher-rarity Fishing Rod, but the lower-rarity ones are easier to make. Here’s how to craft each rarity!
CREATURES TO CATCH
With your handy Fishing Rod, you can begin fishin’! Can you catch all of the fish introduced in v28.30?
Different fish can be found based on the biome and water you’re fishing in, and also the weather and time of day! Tackle the fishing pastime by catching theLegendaryversion of each fish.
Be sure to hold onto those Legendary fish! There will be a way to display them in a future update.
MAKE A DELICIOUS DISH: INTRODUCING THE FOOD PROCESSOR!
Want some brick fish for breakfast? With the newFood ProcessorStation, you can turn the fish you catch intoFish Filets! (Unlock the Food Processor recipe by crafting or using a Lumber Mill.)
Fish Filets aren’t the only seafood you’re able to eat. With a Grill, you can also make dishes likeSmoked Fry FishandBlack and Blue Shieldfish Sushi!
CREATING A FISHING SPOT WITH A BAIT BUCKET
All you need to fish is a Fishing Rod and water. But fish are a slippery bunch, so don’t just cast your line and expect fish to flock. Throw bait into water to create aFishing Spot!
Get bait from aBait Bucket, which has four rarities you may craft. The rarer the bucket, the more likely you are to attract a fish:

v28.30 adds two new resources to LEGO® Fortnite! With a Shovel, digSandout of the ground in sandy areas.

ZOOM IN WITH THE SPYGLASS
Make it easier to see what’s far away! TheSpyglassis a telescopic tool that magnifies distant views. Unlock the recipe for a Spyglass by addingGlassto your inventory and having aCrafting Benchin your world. Then, you guessed it, craft one at a Crafting Bench!
LET THE COMPASS GUIDE YOU!
It’s easy to forget which way you’re going in unless you open your map. But if you craft aCompass, you won’t need your map for that! The Compass adds basic navigation to the HUD, telling you which direction you’re facing. Unlock the recipe for a Compass by addingGlassto your inventory and having aCrafting Benchin your world. Then — you know where this is going — craft one at a Crafting Bench.
Want to add navigation AND map markers to your HUD? Then craft theAdvanced Compass, whose recipe is unlocked the same way as the regular Compass.
NEW VILLAGER OPTIONS
Turk isn’t the only one who can appear as a potential new Villager. Fellow fishersOutcastandBobcan too!
NEW CHARMS, HOW CHARMING!
There are new charms to discover and craft along your adventure!
TheReflection Charmdeals some of the damage you take back at your attacker when you get hurt. While theWavebreak Charmincreases your swimming speed, making you faster the more Wavebreak Charms you have equipped. Different fish are required to craft both charms, so pick up that Fishing Rod and reel ‘em in!
MORE OUTFITS GET A LEGO STYLE!
With v28.30, more Outfits in Fortnite have received a LEGO Style! If you already own these Outfits, their LEGO Styles are currently in your Locker:

Rocket Racing
Season Zero of Rocket Racing is speeding up! In v28.30, set records in the newSpeed Runmode and climb up the Speed Run leaderboards. While making hot new lap times, you may unlock theSprintspark Trail(and its many colors!) with new Quests.
CATCH UP ON SPEED RUN
Ready to prove you’re one of the fastest Rocket Racing drivers? Then get ready because in Speed Run you’ll be up against the toughest opponent of all: the clock.
attempt to set the best possiblelap timeon variants of some of your favorite tracks like Riviera, Anaconda, and Olympus. Each match has a countdown timer of several minutes, giving you plenty of time to complete multiple laps (“runs”) and create your perfect route to the finish line!
While zooming along in Speed Run, don’t be scared when you spot yourghost. This not-so-spooky apparition is there to show you exactly how you drove on your best run of the match — correct its mistakes to shave precious seconds off your lap time.
You can play Speed Run in either public or private matches. If playing with others, don’t worry about crashing into them.Player collisions are turned offin Speed Run so you can focus on your lap times. On the flip side, you can’t catch players’ slipstreams by drafting. Starting line boosts are disabled in this mode as well.
Your fastest run time on a track will be uploaded to that track’sSeason leaderboardso you see how your skills rack up against drivers worldwide. There’s also afriends leaderboardwhere you can compare your times with your Epic friends for bragging rights! Don’t rest on your laurels, though, as the leaderboards will refresh each Season.
To access this new mode, simply choose a track in Rocket Racing’s Speed Run row or select the Speed Run playlist with rotating tracks.
ELECTRIFYING QUESTS!
All good quests start with a spark! Complete runs in Speed Run to progress in theSpeed Run Kickoff Quests. By completing the first Quest, you’ll unlock the newSprintspark Trail! Complete the rest of the Quests to unlock 13 paint colors for Sprintspark.
The Speed Run Kickoff Quests will be available until Jul 17, 2025, at 12 AM ET.
