And, one of the more popular new characters, Ornn, is a bit unwieldy at first. He’s a high-cost 7-mana Champion in a game mode where low-cost cards reign supreme. That said, Ornn’s Equipment-based deck can absolutely work wonders if done correctlyusing the new Awakening content. So, let’s look at some of the best possible Relics that players can equip on him inLegends of Runeterra.

8Common Relic: Z-Drive Prototype

First up is Z-Drive Prototype, as it’s a Relic that players can throw on right after unlocking Ornn and is extra helpful in the early stages when he doesn’t have any of his Star Powers unlocked yet.

Ornn, especially while leveling his Champion Level, is a character that requires some strong starting Passive Powers such as Gearing Up, The Craftsman’s Favor, and Sorcery. So, giving him +2 Reroll at the start of each Adventure makes it that much more likely to get an optimal start.

7Common Relic: The Troll King’s Crusher

Next, let’s talk about Ornn’s Level-Up card ability. Once any unit, including Ornn, has struck for 8 damage or more, Ornn Levels-Up. And, once leveled, Ornn summons the Spirit Of The Ram card with every attack, an Ethereal unit with Overwhelm that copies Ornn’s current stats when he initiates the attack.

By this point in a match, Ornn likely has Equipment thanks to the auto-Equip function his card has and has been Forged multiple times, so his stats are probably in the +6/+6 range or higher. With Troll King’s Crusher, this means that two units with Overwhelm and over 10+ attack will be swinging at once instead of just one, which usually hits the enemy Nexus with the full-forceof a high-speed racing game Truck.

6Rare Relic: The Scourge’s Stash

Make no mistake, Ornn is a costly Champion andthis makes him one of the harder ones to play. As a 7-Cost, it’s very likely that players won’t be able to get him out on the field until turn 4 or 5 at the absolute soonest with Catalyst of the Aeons, Wyrding Stones, his I Made This Star Power, and maybe even the Manaflow Passive Power.

But, with The Scourge’s Stash equipped, it becomes a bit easier to get him out even earlier and go off.

5Rare Relic: Stalker’s Blade

When using Ornn, especially early on in his Champion leveling process, getting Ornn on the field and Leveled-Up is sort of the “win condition” that everything is based around. And, when he’s summoned, players almost always have some Equipment for him ready that will get the Champion to 8 attack power or higher.Like with theHearthstoneMini-Set,new mechanics are constantly added to these card games, so players need to get used to how Equipment works as quickly as possible.

So, with Stalker’s Blade equipped, Ornn will often swing for 8+ damage when played, immediately Level-Up before fully landing on the field, and can then swing to summon the Spirit of the Ram to deal even more damage thanks to Overwhelm.

4Rare Relic: Crownguard Inheritance

For much of the same reason that someone would put Stalker’s Blade or the Scourge’s Stash on Ornn, Crownguard Inheritance also works quite well to make the most of his Level-Up card abilities as quickly as possible.

Once players get Ornn to two Stars and unlock both Sweet Solitude and I Made This, it’s very easy to get a low-cost unit to 8 attack power or more. What this means is that, more often than not, Ornn’s Level-Up requirement will have already been met before he’s even played. With that in mind, players can then play Ornn when it isn’t even their turn to Attack, Rally, and suddenly turn the tide on their AI opponent. Or, even in the scenario where Ornn’s attack is what Level’s him up, the Crownguard Inheritance then allows the player to swing twice thanks to Rally, with the second swing having the Spirit of the Ram.

3Rare Relic: Galeforce

This next suggestion might seem a bit risky, considering that it’s a Relic that recalls Ornn at the end of the Round, but in this case, it’s more than worth it. With this equipped, it’s best to only play Ornn once another unit has swung for 8+ damage. Then, once Ornn is played and immediately Levels-Up, he can then swing twice thanks to Scout, once on his own (while summoning the Spirit of the Ram), and then again with the whole board (and another Spirit of the Ram).

And, in the rare occurrence where this double-attack doesn’t instantly defeat the enemy, players can just do it over again on their next turn. That said, players should really only play Ornn with this Relic equipped if they’re confident that the opponent won’t be able to immediately respond with heavy damage next turn before Ornn can be summoned again. Of course, they shouldn’t only be reserving this cautious playstyle for this Relic, as it’s a mindset that will help them plentyin just about any card game.

2Rare Relic: Tempest Blade

Tempest Blade follows a similar sort of idea as Galeforce, but, rather than using Scout to attack twice, this Relic is meant to disable the entire enemy board so that Ornn, his Spirit Ram, and any other allies can swing for free without any damaged blocked.

Of course, to utilize this to its utmost, players should try and bait the enemy into using all their mana and playing all their units for the turn first, and then play Ornn once they’re all out on the board so that Tempest Blade Stuns every single enemy possible. It’s great that the Path of Champions is a single-player mode, because if anyone has to face someone who could use this tactic, they would be frustrated beyond all compare.

1Rare Relic: Corrupted Star Fragment

Last up is a bit of a unique inclusion that actually sacrifices the Spirit of the Ram rather than buffing it or getting it out earlier. With this Star Fragment Relic and a Leveled-Up Ornn card attacking on the far-right, it’s almost impossible to not immediately win the fight.
