At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how the Multiverse Saga will come to an epic conclusion. It was revealed that fans will be getting moreAvengersfilms in 2025 to close out phase 6. The titles for the films areAvengers: The Kang DynastyandAvengers: Secret Wars.
The initial threeAvengersfilms were released with a three-year span between each film, and only a one-year gap betweenInfinity WarandEndgame. However,with the release ofTheKang Dynastyto come in May 2025, it’ll be six years since Earth’s mightiest heroes have graced the big screen.

In a recent interview with MTV News Feige discussed the hiatus, Feige defended the six-year wait for a newAvengersfilm. “The truth is, when we were doing Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, there were less projects over more years,” Feige said. “They were smaller projects and individual character stories, and it felt appropriate at that point, that after every two or three years that it took for a phase, we would do anAvengersfilm.” He went on to add that with the Disney Plus series and asMarvel Studios obtains characters like Deadpooland The Fantastic Four from Fox, they are able to bring characters together in other projects, soAvengersfilms are not needed as frequently as they were in the past saga.
Feige also made a note to add that “Avengersfilms really should be the capper to a saga.” It’s been recently confirmed thatAvengers: The Kang Dynastywill bedirected by Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Marvel Studios’Shang-Chi. There has yet to be a director attached toAvengers: Secret Warsas of now, but reports indicate that Cretton will not be chosen to helm both entries, as the Russo Brothers did withInfinity WarandEndgame. Instead, a different filmmaker is being sought to sit in the director’s chair forSecret Wars.
As Marvel Studios enters its next saga, the changes the studio has chosen to make in regard to how frequentlythey put outAvengersfilmswill likely work in their favor. Having these films be less frequent makes them that much sweeter when they’re released and could result in more people coming out to the theaters to watch them, making them a box office powerhouse.
Avengers: The Kang Dynastyisset to hit theaters on May 2nd, 2025, andAvengers: Secret Warswill follow on November 7th, 2025.
