Best Light Cone
Back to All Characters
Herta, one of the smartest and most mysterious characters inHonkai Star: Rail, is best suited as a sub-DPS due to her kit’s capability as an AoE damage dealer in team compositions. Her follow-up attacks have gained attention from the game’s community due to their fun animation and voice acting in JP. As such, many players may be interested in experiencing her gameplay, especially considering that she is a free-to-play character withsome of her Eidolonsfreely given upon clearing certain stages of the Simulated Universe.

InHonkai: Star Rail, enemies' elemental weaknesses play a significant role in determining which characters are well-suited for specific content. As an Ice character, Herta can be an intriguing option for players, particularly if they don’t have access to other characters like Yanqing or Pela. While Herta may not deal as much damage as another Erudition character like Jing Yuan, she can still be helpful in various situations due to her ease of access and building.
Honkai: Star Rail Herta Team Comps
Typically, as a sub-DPS character, it is easy to include Herta in various team compositions without requiring a specific team built around her. However, finding characters that can synergize well with her utility can still be quite beneficial, especially since players will need to forego an additional support character to make room for Herta. An ideal team composition for Herta would include a main DPS, whether single target or AoE focused, as well as a healer or defensive support, along with another offensive or defensive support based on the specific content.

Furthermore, Herta’s ability tolaunch follow-up attacks, particularly in Simulated Universe, makes her highly compatible with DPS characters who have the potential for follow-up attacks such as Himeko, Jing Yuan, or Clara, especially becoming quite strong and fun when combined with Elation path and its buffs. Once again particularly in Simulated Universe, players could also explore a fullIce team compositionthat is also utilizing the Remembrance buffs. When Herta is paired up with characters like Yanqing, Pela, and Gepard players can experience a unique gameplay where enemies are consistently Frozen and taking significant damage per turn. While this may not be as suitable for other content, here are some team compositions that can benefit from incorporating Herta in a more versatile manner:
All Around Free-To-Play Comp
Being a freely available character, Herta can be effectively utilized instrictly F2P teams, providing players with the opportunity to add an extra layer of challenge to their gameplay.
Luckily, players have access to a wide range of F2P characters and light cones that can be suitable for various occasions, allowing them to experience the full game without relying on gacha pulls. In this case, players can consider using Serval as their primary DPS thanks to her high damage modifiers. Serval not only deals AoE damage but also applies Shock DoT to enemies, which can be valuable in compensating for the absence of an offensive support character who can either buff the team or debuff enemies. Furthermore,March 7th synergizes wellwith Herta, as she also delivers follow-up attacks, adding to the team’s overall damage output.

Another viable option, instead of March 7th, could be using the Fire Trailblazer. This provides more elemental coverage, which is beneficial for content that features a variety of enemy weakness types. It also contributes to AoE damage without being overly reliant on skill points. While this team composition may not be the most suitable for content that requires clearing within a limited number of turns, such as the Forgotten Hall, it can be effective in other content without the concern of the team being easily defeated. However, victory may take longer compared to teams focused on raw power and strong buffs.
Speedy Farming Team Comp
This team composition is particularly suitable for farming easier content like Calyxes, which benefits from having access to characters that can deal AoE damage while also being extremely fast by manipulating the Speed values in the battle.
Considering that Herta can only perform one follow-up attack per enemy (unless the enemy can heal themselves above 50% HP), her kit becomes particularly valuable in content that features waves of enemies or the enemy being able to consistently summon additional enemies. When combined with other characters that excel at breaking enemy toughness, such as Asta, utilizing Himeko as the primary DPScan be highly advantageous.

Additionally, as a support character, Asta can not only enhance Fire Damage for herself and Himeko, but also provide overall team benefits by boosting ATK and Speed. With Welt’s ability to deal Imaginary DMG and reduce enemy speed, this team can consistently unleash attacks before the enemies have a chance to launch any attacks. This is especially significant since the team does not rely on defensive support characters and needs to eliminate enemies quickly to minimize damage received.
Honkai: Star Railis now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
