There are tons of Merlin Trials to solve inHogwarts Legacy. They are an important aspect of the gameplay since they expand their gear inventory. Of course, solving more Merlin Trials rewards players with more inventory slots.
This is crucial for adventuring inHogwarts Legacysince before completing the Trials, players will often find themselves full and must go back to empty their inventory. The extra inventory can reach up to 20 plus slots when players solve 20 Merlin Trials. This guide will assist players in locating and solving all the Merlin Trials in Hogsmeade Valley.

All Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials In Hogwarts Legacy
Hogsmeade Valley is home to fiveMerlin Trials inHogwarts Legacy, but players won’t see these Trials on the map until they discover them by exploring the area. Once a Merlin Trial is found, its icon will appear on the map to help players easily return to it later.
The five Merlin Trials are:
Merlin Trials #1 - Firefly Puzzle
The first Merlin Trial can be found north of Falbarton Castle Waypoint. The puzzle consists of three moonstone pillars and three swarms of fireflies scattered around the Trial. Players can useRevelioto find three moonstones around the Trial Altar. One of the pillars is near the Trial, while the other two are southwest of it.
Usually, fireflies are always available near moonstones for these kinds of puzzles. But for this Trial,one of the swarms can befound in a hole right next to the Merlin Altar. To solve this Merlin Trial, castLumosto attract and lure all the fireflies into the moonstones.
Merlin Trials #2 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
This Merlin Trial is located a short distance away from the previous one, towards the far east of Hogsmeade Valley inHogwarts Legacy. The Trial involves a stone sphere that players must move and place into a pit usingDepulso.
Players can easily locate the sphere for this Merlin Trial by casting Revelio. The sphere will be visible on top of a sliding track. To solve the puzzle,cast Depulso to move the sphereinto its designated pit. It’s a straightforward process with no complications.
Merlin Trials #3 - Brazier Puzzle
Northwest of the East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame, players can locate another Merlin Trial within the Hogsmeade Valley region. Once players use Mallowsweet to activate the Merlin Trial, three pillars will appear with a brazier on top of them.
To the northeast, a brazier pillar is hidden behind a mountain and protected by a destructible wall. CastConfringoorBombardato destroy the stone wall and gain a clear line of sight to the pillar.
From the same place, cast Confringo to all three pillars and ignite them before the timer runs out. Players should start from the tallest and work their way down to the shortest to beat the timer.
Merlin Trials #4 - Stone Pillar Puzzle
This Merlin Trial is available south of Upper Hogsfield Waypoint in Hogwarts Legacy. Just like most Merlin Trials in the game, players can cast Revelio to find all the five stone pillars around the area. The stone pillars are easy to spot since they’re scattered around the Merlin Alter.
To complete this trial, players should equip and cast eitherone Confringo spell or two Bombardaspells to destroy each of the five stone pillars. There isno specific order or time limitto destroy the pillars, so it should be relatively easy to accomplish.
Merlin Trials #5 - Firefly Puzzle
Once again, there’s a firefly puzzle located south ofHogsmeade Valley inHogwarts Legacy. All of the moonstone pillars are situated right next to the Merlin Trial Altar, meaning players will have to return to this area repeatedly after finding the fireflies.
To theeast of the Merlin Altar, there are two firefly swarmsthat players can find. One of them is located in the middle of the road, while the other can be found on the edge of a nearby cliff. To locatethe third swarm of fireflies, players must continue down the same road until it endsand will eventually come across the last group of fireflies that are hovering around some animal cages.
