There are few characters in Gotham City that harbor the determination of Barbara Gordon. She has the utmost respect for her father, the commissioner of the GCPD, and the willpower tofight the waragainst crime with Batman. The DC Universe further expands the Bat Family thanks to Batgirl, andGotham Knightsbring that to the video game scene.

Considering that Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl has been through so much in her decades in DC Comics, it’s no surprise that the team behindGotham Knightshas changed a few things to best fit their universe, and the story they want to tell with Batgirl. However, it certainly does not makedrastic changes for fans of the character.
6Team Of Batgirls
The Bat Family’s numbers aren’t as proud and large as they are in DC Comics. Members like Signal and Batwoman are left behind to focus on what the team ofGotham Knightsconsiders the core four heroes of Gotham City. However, left behind, are the two Batgirls of Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown, two characters that havea great relationship with Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl.
In DC Comics, there are three Batgirls. Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain are their characters, as much as Barbara Gordon is. The two Batgirls are a great duo and best friends. It shows thatRobin isn’t the only mantle. Their base of operations is the Belfry, and they are led by Oracle or Batgirl, showing a team within a team of Bat Family members.
5Her And Nightwing Broke Up
Both Nightwing and Batgirl have had many relationships in DC Comics. Yet, one that always seems to return is the one between them. Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon grew upfighting crime together, and have both been through so much. It makes their romance story even greater, knowing their history, and seeing their chemistry unfold on the comic pages.

However, inGotham Knights, the two are just friends and are fine with just being exes. They talk about how they broke up, with Barbara Gordon adamant that she broke up with Dick Grayson. It’s a shame that they are not together, but they are a great duo regardless of whether it’s in a relationship or not.
4Can’t Always Be Batgirl
After the reboot of DC Comicsfor the New 52, the comics established that through much therapy and inventions, Barbara Gordon was able to walk again. For years, she was just Oracle, as she was paralyzed after being shot in the spine by the Joker. However, as the years progressed, her condition worsened, and she spends more time in her wheelchair than in the cape and cowl.
When it came toGotham Knights, Batgirl is back and better than ever. She can be found in the Belfry working out at the gym or protecting Gotham City to honor both Batman, and her father, commissioner James Gordon.
3Minor Role In The Court Of Owls
The Court of Owls is integral to the story ofGotham Knights. They are the rich and powerful thatBruce Wayne fears. In the comics, they are roughly the same, but their target seems to be primarily focused on Batman and Bruce Wayne, rather than Nightwing, Robin,Batgirl, and Red Hood. These characters play minor roles in the Court of Owls saga, and encounter Talons and the Court in their comics, but not to the major degree ofGotham Knights.

Considering that Batman is dead, the Court of Owls has accomplished their mission, and to remain as the power controllers of Gotham City without someone trying to stop them. However, what they did not expect was the combined efforts of the Bat Family, providing the Court with a challenge.
2Commissioner Gordon Is Dead
Secret identities are important for characters, to protect the ones they care about. For Barbara Gordon, it has never been more important, as her father is the commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department, James Gordon. The two have been at odds many times, due to Batgirl being a vigilante, but with Gordon completely unaware that it is her daughter under the cowl.
James Gordon is a great detective and knows many things. However, he does not know that his daughter is Batgirl. Sadly, he never will, asGotham Knights’ James Gordon was murdered. Barbara Gordon feels like she has to uphold her father’s legacy, and not let him down andlet corruption take over Gotham City.
1She Is No Longer Oracle
For years, Barbara Gordon put her genius and drive into becoming Oracle. As Oracle, Barbara Gordon assisted the GCPD and Batman from a forensic side.Assisting in solving crimesand using the bat computer to create a forensic intelligence hub.Gotham Knightsdecided that Barbara Gordon needed to return as Batgirl, despite characters like Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain.
After the death of her father, Jim Gordon, Barbra Gordon went through years of surgery and rehabilitation to recover from her spinal injury. Her unbreakable determination as a hero for Gotham City allows her to be the best Batgirl she can be.
